Morgan Consulting this week announced a new Hospitality Division providing executive and senior management level recruitment services, across all facets of the hospitality industry. The new Hospitality team is being led by Mardi Grey-Byrne, a seasoned industry veteran who has worked with brands such as IHG, Park Plaza Hotels, Sodexo, and Jumeirah Group in various capacities including Corporate HR, Operations Management, Food & Beverage, Contract Catering and Events. Most recently Grey-Byrne was the Owner and Managing Director of a specialized recruitment firm in Dubai and had previously headed up the Northern England region of Sodexo Prestige’s recruitment division, as well as working for Blue Arrow Catering Recruitment UK.

Industry bouncing back

“After a year of hiring freezes and tight budgets, the industry is bouncing back” continues Grey-Byrne. Recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed the Restaurant and Catering industry turned over $1.6bn in December 09, a 14.5 percent increase on the same period in 2008. Australian’s tourism numbers are also holding strong with the ABS figures revealing 5.6 million short term visitors in 2009, the same as the previous year despite global financial worries.  “Now is the time for organizations to identify the key positions they need to create or fill in 2010, and start sourcing the talent, because their competitors are surely doing so”.
