The ‘Official Hotel’ banner sees the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel as the venue for all vehicle inspection on 25th September 2010. The hotel will also host a briefing session as well as the welcome reception for all participants. For participants who would like to relax and rejuvenate in the comforts of 5-star luxury before the Race, special rates are accorded for the weekend of 24th & 25th September 2010.
The Signing Ceremony coincides with the event update as the Recce (Route Check) team has just returned from their weeklong trip, finalising the route, checkpoints, and tasks for the event.
The information on the entire route, checkpoints and tasks are divided into several parts and each is kept by one of the SIX Recce Officials, safe guarding the secret to ensure that there is no leakage before the event flags off. Participants will only be given that information on the actual day (26th September 2010 ).
Each participating team along with their vintage / classic cars will start off with a SCORE, made up by adding the age of the vehicle plus the age of the driver and co-driver combined. The teams which manage to maintain their highest SCORE on completion in Bangkok will be the eventual WINNERS, winning off over RM27,000 worth of ORIS watches and trophies.
Penalties for various offence and mistakes will be imposed on the SCORE (missed checkpoints, short cuts, early or late arrivals, etc.. ) while Bonus points will be given out for completion of Task set out for participants to perform along the way.
Classification of vehicles are in the following category : Vintage = up to 1949, Classic = 1950 ~ 1985 and Special Interest = from 1986 ( teams entering in the Special Interest category will be slapped with a MINUS 25 points to their eventual SCORE giving some form of advantage to the seniors of the Vintage and Classic category ).
Advisory from various representatives from the tourism board, travel agencies and the Thailand Vintage car club will ensure the event amazes and thrills you and with the limited edition ORIS Raid chronograph watch at RM11,500 with a complimentary entry, it is being snapped up like a hot commodity.
Entry will close on the 10th September 2010 with the vehicle inspection on the 25th September 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur Official Hotel, ie. Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
