THE FARMER’S’ MARKET ON THE TERRACE is enjoying the height of the UAE growing season, with a larger selection of fresh produce arriving every week.

Yael Mejia of Baker & Spice Dubai and the driving force behind the THE FARMER’S’ MARKET ON THE TERRACE, said, “Coming into season now, we have candy striped beetroot ideal for healthy salads and warm winter soups.  Even the beetroot leaves can be eaten.  For the first time this season we have the most delicious cauliflower and Romanesque (green) cauliflower as well as early tomatoes.  We are also getting an abundance of red, orange and purple vegetables, full of anthocyanin, powerful antioxidants, that we are using a great deal and in some great combinations on the Baker & Spice menus.”

Other delicious items available include mange tout, peas, green beans, wild rocket, green and red oak leaf lettuce making their debut for the first time this season, Boston lettuce, carrots, peppers or every colour including black, cousa, aubergines of every shape, red and white radishes, kale, cabbage, turnips, and strawberries.  There are also a variety of herbs: chard, chives, onion leaves, basil, thyme, lemongrass, parsley, mint and basil, and being so fresh, like nowhere else, they are particularly verdant.

Yael added, “Since visitors to the Market buy directly from the farmers, not only is everything absolutely fresh, there are no middlemen and the prices are RIDICULOUSLY low.  The market is much much cheaper and represents probably the best value for money for fresh vegetable shopping int he UAE.  It is considerably cheaper than any supermarket shelf for fresh organic produce, not to mention the benefits to the the environment and local farmers.

About THE FARMER’S’ MARKET ON THE TERRACE
THE FARMER’S’ MARKET ON THE TERRACE is a local initiative to make truly fresh local and organic seasonal produce to the general public at outstandingly low prices.  It takes place at Souk Al Bahar every Friday from November to April between 09.00 – 15.00 and is organised by Baker & Spice in association with Emaar Malls Group.

Now in its third season, THE FARMER’S’ MARKET ON THE TERRACE offers shoppers the opportunity to buy locally grown, fresh seasonal produce straight from the farm to the plate.  Rediscover the joy of buying freshly picked produce that has not been subjected to lengthy travels in chillers.  Buy directly from the farmers at reasonable prices without any middlemen or transportation costs.
