Renaissance Dubai Hotel announces the promotion of key culinary posts such as Andreas Kurfürst who has been promoted as Director Food &Beverage at Renaissance Dubai and Amgad Zaki as new Executive Chef.
Andreas Kurfürst will overlook all F&B operations as well as the Health and Fitness club. He started in Dubai as Pastry Chef for the Ramada in 1990 and has worked as Executive Chef for the past 7 years at the Renaissance Dubai. He is also the Vice President of the Emirates Culinary Guild and under his leadership; he has led his team to win numerous gold and silver medals.
Andy's wealth of knowledge and experience has earned him accolades in the industry both regionally and globally. He is the hotel's roving ambassador, being recently invited as judge and lecturer at Diyafa 2009, the first Chefs Table in Doha. He is also a WACS certified culinary Judge, attending and judging International competitions in South Africa, Canada and Middle East.
At the recent World Association of Chefs Societies Congress in Santiago de Chile, he presented a workshop of the 'Art of Pastry' at the culinary seminars for 100 junior Chefs and is an in-demand lecturer in Hotel Management Schools in Switzerland.
Chef Amgad Zaki is promoted as Executive Chef after serving as Executive Sous Chef for over 3 years. He oversees 8 Food and Beverage outlets including banquet operations and the day-to-day culinary operations in the hotel.
Having an award-winning culinary team and high guests satisfaction levels is what Chef Amgad expects to maintain during his term by continuous training and development of the kitchen. He is often sought after for his recipes and live cooking being a Gold Medalist at the Salon Culinaire competition in 2005 for the 5 course gourmet dinner menu.
Recently, he was the guest chef with local celebrity Chef Ossama El-Sayed, where he cooked various recipes on live television. Previously, he was connected with JW Marriott Hotel where he was named Star Chef in 2004. During this period, he collaborated with Chef Ingo Maas where they published the 'New Arabian Cuisine cookbook' and together created a menu featuring the dishes from the cookbook specially developed for Lufthansa Airlines.
