Families and residents recapture spirit of shopping as Dubai Summer Surprises launches to kick off citywide excitement
Dubai, UAE: 11 July 2020:With malls in Dubai fully reopening for business, families and residents across the UAE are making a beeline to the regions most popular retail hub to recapture the spirit of shopping after a brief hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 23rdedition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) has launched to bring joy to residents and visitors, and follows the reopening of the city to tourists on 7 July. Running for seven weeks until 29 August, the DSS campaign will this year include the Eid Al Adha and Back to School festivals and will showcase the best of retail and entertainment all summer long.
Shoppers enthusiasm for retail therapy has not ebbed with brand lovers and bargain hunters alike visiting their favourite malls in Dubai to pick up some great deals while parents with children in tow head over to mall entertainment centres that have also sprung back into action. There are also no age limitations on visitors but they are still required to adhere to the precautionary measures adopted at all malls including social distancing, wearing a mask and regular use of hand sanitisers to enjoy a safe shopping experience. As part of the preventative measures malls are also using advanced technology to minimise the risk of contagion including use of thermal scanners and cameras to monitor traffic at all entry points.
Setting up the stage for a vibrant summer season, the reopening of malls has given a major impetus to the domestic tourism sector and will add to the array of citywide experiences that will be offered to tourists who have begun visiting the city.
