A few of us like to swing by the coffee shopsto pick up a hot cup of refreshment that rejuvenates our bodies and nerves, while some learn to create our kind at home. Try staying without it a single day and be ready to bear the consequences, headaches, yawns, and who knows what else the day might bring without the cup of caffeine. We tried to sneak in the life of a Barista who wakes up each morning to bring cheer and contentment to other people's life. Being a Barista fills some people's life purpose, and it's an artistic job that pays well too. We reached out to Martin at the Bahi Ajman Hotel in Ajman to understand career opportunities and his experience.
Martin believes there is still so much to learn to become a professional barista. He has made an effort to learn without compromising how to deal with the guest and colleagues. Martin believes that attitude matters the most; determination, hard work, and passion are what it takes to be an excellent Barista.
How a Barista starts his day?
For most of the Barista, the day starts early in the morning. The job is not about pressing the expresso machine to deliver various types of coffee.
For Martin, his journey as a barista wasn't easy as other people may see. This profession proves that life will always have something to offer, from driver to Barista. In life, we must have something to tell, which describes what pushes us to learn more about this profession. Life isn't always about unicorns and rainbows. Most Baristas initially begin to support their family and take the job as a stepping stone in the industry. It's astonishing to see by making a coffee with love could make the guests smile. It is something that gives assurance and desires to return to work each day.
Qualifications for a Barista
The role of a Barista might seem fascinating, but it requires a set of specific skills. Since making coffee is crucial to becoming a Barista, having the right attitude and ability to follow instructions is essential to advance their career. The hospitality industry holds endless opportunities, though it requires dedication, hard work, problem-solving skills, and someone who can be a team player. Because Barista is a customer-facing job, one needs to have groomed personality and good communication skills.

Career, Promotion, and Salaries
Since Barista is an entry-level job, it usually starts with low or minimum wages. It would be best if you were willing to cross-train in other departments and focus on undergoing some additional courses to grow further in the career. Barista can successfully train for the other roles in FB. The average salaries for a Barista in different parts of the world are as follows:

The career for a barista mainly consists of sharing his knowledge from a wider angle. When it comes to a Hotel Caf, there will be an opportunity to handle all FB team training and coffee standards across all FB outlets.
Again this could be extended as well into a multi-property management role. Few baristas end up selling coffee beans and working as well for renovated coffee company suppliers.
