With an impressive 22-year tenure shaping engineering operations for world-class hospitality brands including Kempinski, Mövenpick, Marriott, Hilton, Sofitel, and now Rixos, Ahmed Lasheen has been honored in Hozpitality's prestigious Best 30 Engineering Leaders Powerlist for 2025. His current role as Director of Engineering at Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah showcases his exceptional ability to merge technical expertise with strategic vision.
Lasheen's 2024 achievements demonstrate engineering leadership at its finest. Through astute contract renegotiations, he achieved substantial cost efficiencies, reducing annual maintenance expenditure by AED 140,000 while maintaining uncompromised service quality. His technical mastery shone through the complete renovation of two steam boilers, which eliminated previous performance issues and significantly enhanced guest satisfaction.
Environmental sustainability has been a hallmark of Lasheen's approach. He spearheaded a major upgrade of the property's Sewage Treatment Plant, expanding capacity from 405 to 640 cubic meters to ensure sustainable irrigation across the expansive 150,000 sqm resort. His comprehensive revamp of the Building Management System delivered remarkable energy savings, reducing machinery electricity consumption by an impressive 32%.
Safety systems received Lasheen's expert attention through a complete upgrade of the Fire Alarm Control Panel, substantially improving the reliability and scalability of this critical infrastructure. His leadership extended to numerous capital projects, including an AED 8 million Entertainment Hub development and a complete AED 35 million renovation of key mechanical systems encompassing boilers, pump rooms, spools, and chillers.
Guest experiences enhancements under Lasheen's direction include the creation of a new 300 sqm football area, installation of an AED 1 million Outdoor Gym, and comprehensive refreshment of all 475 guestrooms in preparation for renovation. His team also completed extensive outdoor tiling upgrades around pool areas and the Toro Loco restaurant, along with full indoor and outdoor lobby renovations.
Lasheen's commitment to sustainability shines through in the property's 3% reduction in both electricity and water consumption, achieved through innovative engineering solutions and team engagement. Looking ahead, he is pioneering the installation of electric vehicle charging stations, positioning Rixos Al Mairid at the forefront of eco-conscious hospitality.
