Uresh Thanthrige, Commis Chef at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek, was crowned the Young Chef of the Year Gold at the prestigious Middle East Chef Excellence Awards 2025, held on June 2nd at Address Sky View, Dubai. This top honour recognizes Uresh's outstanding culinary talent and promising future in the gastronomic world.
The Young Chef Awards, an initiative by Hozpitality Group, invited talented chefs under the age of 28 to showcase their culinary prowess. The journey to this esteemed award began with a rigorous recipe submission process, meticulously judged by the Emirates Culinary Guild, which shortlisted 16 exceptional young chefs. These culinary hopefuls then went head-to-head in an intense cooking competition at ICCA Dubai. From this highly competitive field, the Emirates Culinary Guild Judges selected five finalists who demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity.
Uresh Thanthrige was one of these five finalists who had the distinct opportunity to cook live during the spectacular award ceremony banquet. His remarkable skill, innovative approach, and composure under pressure ultimately impressed the judges, securing him the coveted Young Chef of the Year Gold trophy. In addition to this prestigious award, Uresh will receive a valuable course worth $10,000 from ICCA, a renowned culinary institute, further supporting his professional development. He was also presented with a premium chef jacket from Bragard, a symbol of culinary excellence. This recognition marks a significant milestone in Uresh Thanthrige's burgeoning career, positioning him as a bright star in the Middle Eastern culinary scene.
