What you will be doing: - Lead the Banquets team in all aspects of the operation, ensuring service standards are followed
- Ensure Food & Beverage relevant brand standards are maintained
- Handle guest concerns and react quickly and professionally
- Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs
- Attend and facilitate regularly scheduled departmental meetings
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
- Provides direction and guidance to the Banquet Supervisors assisting in the development of their leadership skills
- Proactively analyzes procedures, policies, systems and processes of operation and streamlines them where necessary
- Ensures the financial success of the department by monitoring labour productivity, scheduling, revenue generation, forecasting and cost control
- Ensures all financial reorting is maintained and accurate including billing, payroll etc.
- Foster relationships with Conference Services, Kitchen, Stewarding and other departments
- Ensure that all equpment, fixtures and furniture of the department are kept in good supply and in the best condition possible
- A ctively ensure departmental adoption of a safety culture by developing and monitoring the process of Health & Safety standards
- Maintains a high level of knowldege towards the latest food, beer, wine and cocktail trends
- Ensure departmental participation in all hotel-wide envirionmental initiatives and to develop departmental specific environmental initiativesDevelop strong interpersonal relationships with our regulare meeting planners and visiting planners/conveners
- Actively involved in recruiting, interviewing, training and mentoring new colleagues
- Responsible for attending leadership meetings, daily BEO meetings, pre-convention and other meetings as required
- Align and deliver corporate F&B vision. In addition, work with clients, colleagues, Events and Sales to create new unique and personalized experiences for all local and conference guests
- Other duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include: - 3-4 years of progressive management experience in Banquets, Events, Food & Beverage or Convention Services in a hotel or related field required
- Post secondary degree or diploma in hospitality or a related discipline
- Completion of Level 1 or 2 First Aid course is an asset
- Proven ability to multi-task in a a fast paced environment
- Self-motivated, well organized and a strong team player
- Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
- Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
- Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance
- Well versed in cocktail trends and wines
- Serving It Right Certification required
- Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Previous Point of Sale system experience required, preferably Micros
- Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, overnights, split shifts, overtime and holidays
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization
