What you will be doing: - Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
- Lead and manage the Stewarding team in all aspects of the department and ensure standards are followed
- Balance operational, administrative and colleague needs
- Conduct daily and monthly scheduled departmental meetings
- Conduct Annual Training Sessions in food safety, sanitation, WHIMIS
- Supervise and maintain the sanitation of kitchen equipment and other areas assigned
- Ensure all banquet event orders are reviewed and ensure proper set-ups are in place
- Prepare monthly reports on Inventory in china/silverware and equipment; note shortages and requisition replacements as required while following budget guidelines
- Work closely with the Chef, Director of Banquets/Catering to anticipate guest needs
- Order and control all inventory of cleaning compounds
- Ensure all equipment is in working order and report any items in need of repair
- Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Assist with stores par levels for F&B non-food items (pens, coasters, napkins etc.)
- Contributing to a positive working environment by ensuring all colleague concerns are addressed in a timely, empathetic, and meaningful manner
- Proactively managing employee relations by conducting one-on-ones, daily shift briefings, and providing on-going support & guidance
- Actively participating and ensuring representation in the Housekeeping department in our Recognition Committee, Health & Safety Committee, and Planet 21 (Sustainability Committee)
- Championing Health & Safety policies and procedures by actively promoting a safe working environment, improving fire safety and emergency procedures, recording accidents and conducting investigations, and participating in return to work programs
- Following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
- Completing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Your experience and skills include: - Previous leadership experience in a Stewarding department required
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications required
- University/College degree in a related discipline an asset
- Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Previous experience with a Union environment an asset
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends, late nights, early mornings, and holidays
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): - Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
- Working with chemicals and other cleaning products
