Shift Engineer
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Shift Engineer is responsible for the physical plant of the building - Boilers, Chillers, Heating, Cooling, Rooms Maintenance, Equipment Maintenance, Pools & Spa, as well as resolving guest issues. You will perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain the property's facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and functional environment for the guests.

What you will be doing: - Completion of all assigned Preventative Maintenance Work Orders and Daily Work Orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Take Daily readings of Boilers, Chillers, Water Entry Room, etc.
- Work closely with the Rooms Division and all hotel departments to improve service delivery and efficiency
- Providing excellence in guest service and acting as a liaison between the hotel and our guests
- Ensuring a prompt response and follow-up to all daily service requests by guests and employees, with a drive to not only "fix" the problem, but implement changes to prevent re-occurence
- Responsible for monitoring and changing appropriate set points and control systems of the building automation systems
- Communicating and developing relationships with supporting departments
- Key member of the Emergency Response Team
- Ensuring that all equipment is well maintained and in proper working order
- Participation in committees, communication meetings and daily briefings
- All others duties assigned by Director of Facilities related to building issues and repairs
- Inspect all areas of the property for safety issues and take immediate corrective action
- Assist guests regarding property facilities in an informative and helpful way
- Position consists of afternoon shifts, with occasional coverage of morning shifts
- Full rate of $32.55
Your qualifications, experience and skills include: - 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering designation is required - applicants without designation will not be contacted
- Pool water chemistry knowledge requried
- Additional trade certificate(s) an asset
- Knowledge of computerized energy management systems is preferred
- HVAC (Heating/Ventilation and Air Conditioning) background an asset
- As a condition of your employment, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and be able to provide appropriate proof of vaccination prior to beginning your employment
- Must be self-started and motivator
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills
- Must be team oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have an eye for detail and a passion for guest service
- Ability to constantly stand and walk throughout shift
- Ability to lift, pull and push over 50 lbs
Visa Requirements: must be legally eligible to work in Canada with a valid work permit or visa. The hotel is unable to assist candidates with obtaining Canadian work authorization.
