The first Jawhara hotel was established in 1979 by Dubai's influential businessman and visionary Haj Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Lootah, S.S.Lootah Group's chairman. It was a small 32 room hotel located in Deira that was initially built only to cater to his personal guests.
However, having served as the vice chairman of the Dubai municipality, Haj Saeed Lootah was aware of Dubais increasingly growing attraction as a business and touristic destination. He did not agree with the philosophy of hospitality of other hotels. He wanted to create a hotel that would reflect Emirati values and adhere to Shariah principles.
He had already pioneered other Islamic compliant businesses. He developed the first Islamic Bank in the World, Dubai Islamic Bank. He also founded the first Islamic only-girl institutions for medicine and pharmacy in Dubai, the Dubai Medical College and the Dubai Pharmacy College.
S.S. Lootah Group was already a major player in the fields of construction and real estate. It was therefore a natural and convenient progression to expand into the hospitality sector.
The Al Jawhara Group of Hotels and Apartments were developed to serve as a Home away from home for families visiting Dubai, providing a Unique Islamic Emirates Hospitality for their guests.
AJH currently operates the following three properties in Dubai:
Al Jawhara Gardens Hotel
Al Jawhara Hotel Apartments
