About the Role

As the Handyperson - Engineering, you will be responsible for assisting the Engineering Department in ensuring the hotel is well maintained and guests' needs are met in accordance with Hyatt International's brand standards through operating plant machinery and carrying out repairs / maintenance for front and back of house areas. Working in a team of 5, you will support the Engineering Manager in supervising and managing the day to day operations as well as supporting the team to achieve our purpose.

Qualifications
Some of the responsibilities include:

• Perform fortnightly a routine inspection of all public areas and plan repairs / maintenance as required
• Supervision of engineering staff for performance, quality of work and attendance
• Work closely with the Engineering Manager in regards to all aspects of the Engineering department
• Control and verify all Engineering and pool plant log book entries
• Coordinate the preparation of hotel asset register of plant equipment whilst ensuring the team are carrying out maintenance as per the set schedules
• Coordinate and supervise contractors to ensure compliance with specifications around Hotel's procedures regarding guest contact and safety
• Assisting the Engineering Manager in all matters related to the implementation of effective budget control

• Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is most desirable
• Minimum 2 years in a general maintenance role
• Experience with Building Management Systems would be of advantage
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with advanced proficiency of the English language
• Excellent time management skills with a strong ability to multi-task
• Superior customer service skills along with excellent service resolution skills
• The necessary skills to be able to perform painting, plumbing, basic carpentry, concreting, tiling and other general maintenance
• The ability to motivate and encourage a positive working environment for team members
• Superior customer service skills along with the capability of working both autonomously and as part of a team
• The ability to create a positive first impression with an understanding of the importance of 5 star grooming standards
• The flexibility to work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
