Job Description For Platform Engineer, Automation
Description
Hyatt is currently seeking a Platform Engineer to provide technical support for our automated delivery pipeline and monitoring tools. The ideal person for this position is skilled and passionate about solving technical problems while focusing on the continuous improvement of the engineering and operations experience.
The Platform Engineering team is focused on building a modern hybrid cloud Platform, with capabilities and processes that enable our engineers to focus on delivering innovative customer facing features while minimizing the effort they have to spend on application availability, resiliency, security and operational efficiency. Our digital platform serves a variety of internal and external developers and services by creating secured paved roads for our data center and private cloud assets, building automated CI/CD pipelines and enabling fast experimentation for our digital ecommerce and mobile services. Individuals with strong System Administrator and DevOps experience and an "automate everything" mentality will thrive in Platform Engineering, where there is a strong push to automate operational procedures, deployments, and repeatable tasks.
The Platform Engineer will report to the Manager, Platform Engineering at Hyatt's corporate offices located in downtown Chicago.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage, and troubleshoot Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline
Onboard new applications and micro-services to CI/CD pipeline
Administer, upgrade, and provide support for DevOps tools, including BitBucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Rundeck, DataDog, Ansible, Salt, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker.
Remediate all Security Vulnerabilities related to CI/CD pipeline and tools
Assist with the administration of log aggregation and enablement of log parsing
Provide end user documentation and training for DevOps Tools
Participate in Change, Incident, and Problem management including Root Cause Analysis
Provide DevOps Tools 24x7 on-call support (rotation)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
3+ years experience systems administrator in Linux OS environment
2+ years experience with major Public/Private Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, VMWare)
2+ years experience building and running DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) function
Familiar with multiple programming or scripting languages (e.g. Java, Node.js, Bash, Python, Perl)
Knowledge of DevOps philosophies, standards and CI/CD best practices
Understanding of networking (routing/ports/protocols), firewalls, load balancers, server and container security
Experience with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration tool
Experience with Docker or other container based platform
Experience with Ansible and Salt Stack or similar configuration management tool
Experience with Stash/Bitbucket, SVN, or similar code repository tool
Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tool
Experience with Jira or similar issue and project tracking tool
Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaS) tool
Experience with DataDog or similar Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tool
Working knowledge of incident, problem, and change management best practices
Strong business and technical acumen being able to effectively communicate with others
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Desired Qualifications:
Large scale eCommerce industry experience
Experience with APIs, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and microservices
Experience with modern web and mobile application environments (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, routing, load balancing, CDNs, WAF security, etc)
Experience tuning and troubleshooting application performance for memory, cpu, and thread usage, and database pooling
Experience with Splunk and creating queries and dashboards
Experience configuring Nagios or similar monitoring tool
Experience with Kafka or similar data streaming tool
Experience with Rabbit MQ or similar messaging tool
Working knowledge of databases and ability to write SQL queries
Bachelor of Science degree preferred
Preferred candidate is passionate about the hospitality industry
