Job Description For Turf Management Internship-$500 SignOnBonus+$20/Wk Gas Stipend Thru 9/22

Description

Summary: The Turf Management Intern is responsible for assisting in the golf maintenance department. They will work closely with Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents learning all aspects of the maintenance operation, especially the intricacies of growing a variety of warm season grasses.

The Turf Management Intern shall always strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture as well as promoting Wild Dunes Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!

Essential Job Functions:

Properly mows greens and tees
Operates tractors, using specific attachments, to till, cultivate, and grade new turf areas
Assists with landscaping; planting, cultivating, pruning, care of plants, shrubs and trees on golf course
Responsible for bunker maintenance and repairs divots throughout course
Ability to work a flexible schedule that will likely include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to live the Hyatt Values of Respect, Integrity, Humility, Empathy, Creativity & Fun

Colleague is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Experience & Education:

Must be enrolled in a Turf Management program from an accredited college or university
Some knowledge of golf and displays enthusiasm for the game
High school diploma or equivalent required

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat);
Must be able to walk, climb into and out of and operate a vehicle frequently, with occasional stair climbing.
Must be able to repetitively lift, push, pull & carry up to 15 lbs., frequently up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
Must be able to twist, bend and squat frequently;kneel or crawl occasionally
Must be able to perform repetitive hand & arm movements, pushing and pulling and simple grasping frequently; squeezing, overhead reaching & fine manipulation occasionally.
