Assistant Chief Steward

Summary of Responsibilities:

Every memorable dining experience at The Raffles Europejski Warsaw begins behind the scenes with our Food & Beverage team's commitment to safe and efficient operations. Showcase your leadership strengths and model our service culture as Assistant Chief Steward, where you will ensure a superior standard for all flatware, tableware and kitchen equipment in support of our Culinary and Banquets teams.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Steward, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Ensure smooth operation of Stewarding department on a daily basis
• Liaise with the Kitchen to ensure cleanliness & maintenance standards are adhered
• Work closely with the Banquet department to ensure that all function equipment needs are on hand and in good working condition
• Maintain and adhere to budgetary guidelines with respect to breakage, inventory and preventative maintenance of dish machines
• In the absence of the Chief Steward, to be responsible for all Stewarding operations
• Ensure the delivery of excellent service by maintaining high staff morale and team spirit
• Develop, motivate, lead, coach and monitor performance of all team members, including Supervisors and Lead Hands. This will involve conducting quarterly one-on-one's with each team member, as well as being actively involved in annual performance reviews
• Actively promote a safe and hazard free work environment. This includes ensuring proper food handling procedures, cleaning and storage of food containers, use of cleaning chemicals & personal protective equipment and the timely maintenance of dishwashing equipment in all kitchens
• Participate in the training of new team members, both within Stewarding as well as within the F&B department
• Ensure all departmental specific initiatives (breakage tracking, quarterly inventories, stewarding orientations) are being followed
• Ensure all preventative maintenance activities (deep-cleaning of our dish machines, bi-annual deep-cleaning of all back-of-house F&B spaces) are being conducted on a regular schedule

• Previous experience required (in a Stewarding department preferred)
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• University/College degree in a related discipline an asset
• Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications preferred
• Previous experience with Micros is an asset
• Working knowledge in regards to labour forecasting & scheduling and expense forecasting is an asset
• Highly responsible & reliable
• Thorough working knowledge of WHMIS regulations and guidelines is required
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
