Skills, Qualifications & Experience
*Minimum two years’ work experience in Tailoring in a hotel or in a similar firm
*Proficient in English language (verbal and written) with a second or third language will be an asset.
*Ability to work independently and under pressure
*Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever changing environment.
*Must be a strong team player with departmental cooperation.
*Good communication skills and teamwork
As a Tailor you are responsible to provide professional service. Your role will include key responsibilities such as:
*To mend, repair, and alter guest clothing and employee uniforms by hand stitching, applying adhesive patches, or using a sewing machine. Distribute clean uniforms to personnel according to company specifications. Send damaged uniforms to appropriate location
*Performs timely repairs on all items of uniform, linen and upholstery.
*Stitches new uniforms, items of linen and upholstery as per hotel specifications.
*Ensures that all linen and uniforms are repaired before issuing them to staffs.
*Measure, make or alter uniforms for new employees
*Take care of basic alterations requested by guests.
*Inform the linen Laundry Supervisor for replenishing sewing supplies.
*Repair and maintain uniforms for all hotel employees.
*Convert discarded linen into usable items for re-circulation.
*Organize and take inventory of all fabric materials.
*Assume duties and tasks assigned by Superiors.
*Assumes responsibilities of linen/uniform sorter attendant whenever required.
*Attends behavioural and vocational training in own and related work areas to enhance skills and develop multifunctional.
Keep a detailed record of the daily work.
*Keep the tailoring area clean and tidy.
