The main purpose of the Public Relations Office - Shanghai is to support outbound and domestic business by positioning, promoting and enhancing awareness of the Shangri-La name and its brands throughout China to achieve widespread recognition of the company as one of the world’s best hotel groups. Under the direction of the Regional Public Relations Director, South China, the Public Relations Manager assists in the planning, coordinating and implementing of public relations functions in South China, with specific responsibilities and an emphasis on media relations.  The PR Manager is responsible for many of the day-to-day activities of the Regional Public Relations Office in Shanghai.

Strategic Responsibilities

•Work with China PR team to develop sophisticated, compelling PR campaigns, creating content that addresses business objectives, brand positioning and key messages and supports media relations and KOL engagement.
•Ongoing review of media needs / initiation of newsworthy stories.  

•Assist and help coordinate PR projects, including but not limited to:
•Corporate sponsorship
•Award events
•Corporate press conferences and press events, both local and overseas
•Press trips and individual media visits (organizing, escorting and follow-up)
•New hotel openings in South China (i.e. soft/grand openings, press conferences, events)  

•Maintenance of detailed media account management system for the Chinese and English press in China, comprising:
•- Accurate press list maintenance
•- Targeted press release distribution using information from Corporate Office / individual hotels from both China and overseas.
•Expand relationships with key Chinese media and maintain pro-active relationships with A+ media to generate highest level of positive coverage of Shangri-La as a group and for individual hotels.
•Assist with crisis communications management.
•Ensure all corporate press release are up-to-date and accessible by media.
•Answer surveys and inquiries from media.
•Draft and edit Chinese language corporate communications materials.
•Provide administrative support for the corporate public relations office
•Handle daily correspondence/financial documents such as purchase order, expenses claims, regional PR officer and agency queries, etc.
•Play supporting role in developing corporate public relations budget by updating budget figure periodically.
•Attend appointed events and functions as Shangri-La representative when required.
•Manage and monitor news coverage and collate press clippings from assigned territories to ensure that company publicity and significant, relevant news is shared appropriately internally.  

•The Candidate should have five to ten years of public relations experience and a proven track record of success. He or she will have exceptional written and verbal skills and be able to summarize, clarify and communicate ideas simply and accurately. This person must be collaborative and highly results driven with an eye for detail and passion for communications. BA/BS degree. Native Mandarin speaker and writer required.
• Highly Preferred:
•Formal training in Public Relations, a university degree or equivalent experience in public relations, communications, journalism and/or marketing.
•Previous experience working for an international hotel group and a solid understanding of the hotel business and/or travel industry. Creative, positive, and high-energy individual with hands-on mentality
