At the moment we're looking for a Manager, Engineering, South East Asia & Korea (SEA&K) to join our fun and energetic team at Singapore Corporate Office.
The Manager, Engineering supports IHG's strategic product growth and estate quality in adherence to the organization's brand, build, and engineering standards to ultimately drive Owner and shareholder return by creating Great Hotels Guests Love. The individual contributes a high level of specialised knowledge and skill in engineering to support the Design & Engineering function and subsequently the operating estate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Provides technical support to new build, conversion, re-branding, and refurbishment projects in line with IHG brand standards
•Prepares engineering services briefs for Consultants on new projects and reviews and comments on consultants' designs in terms of economy, appropriateness in design, budget and operational issues.
•Provides engineering input/advice in the due diligence process on potential new/conversion and/or renovation of existing hotels and conducts pre-opening reviews relative to IHG standards and specifications of same.
•When required, provides advice and direction to Hotel engineering departments on new and existing engineering standards and procedures, Fire, Life & Safety and environmental issues to ensure compliance with IHG standards and specifications.
New Developments (Growth / Pipeline Projects):
•Provide Design & Engineering team members with review, advice and support through desktop drawing reviews for new build hotel MEP and FLS systems.
•Provide engineering input/advice in the due diligence process on potential new/conversion and/or renovation of existing hotels to IHG Hotels & Resorts standards and specifications.
•Assist to prepare engineering services briefs for consultants on new projects and review and comment on consultants' designs in terms of economy, appropriateness in design, budget and operational issues.
•Review and comment on Owners' / Consultants' design in relation to IHG standards and local code requirements in terms of appropriateness of design and operational needs
•Conduct regular and periodic site visits of assigned projects for the purposes of ensuring progress in in line with IHG standard
•Prepares timely reports on project site visits, project meetings, drawing & system reviews, inspections and testing to highlight key activities, issue, and variance to required standards
•Conducts technical inspections as required of potential or existing properties and completes Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) of the same
•Provides input and advice to aid hotel design for optimal energy efficiency, including compliance with IHG's Green Engage Program. Actively seeks out new technologies geared to reduce energy consumption
•Works with hotel engineers for new hotels to ensure engineering system testing and commissioning, acceptance, and take over procedures are in compliance
•Provides advice and procedures for establishing engineering programs (e.g. work request, preventative maintenance, planned preventative maintenance of guestrooms, fire protection maintenance, engineering manual self-audits)
•Ensure hotels are using computer aided maintenance management systems (ESCAP or other approved systems)
•Assist Director of Engineering (DOE) or Chief Engineer (CE) with requirements for training of the hotel's engineering team with regards to engineering policies, procedures, and programmes
•To provide advice and assistance as necessary to enable the DOE or CE to take full responsibility of the hotel's engineering operations
•Provide, where required, advice to the DOE or CE for purchasing of required engineering FF&E
•Assist to ensure health and safety practices are being implemented in accordance with corporate programs and local laws
•Collaborate with Hotel Openings Team on completion of areas and handover dates for completion
Operating Estate Duties When Mandated
•Provide engineering maintenance direction, consultation, and training to operating owned/leased and managed properties (where required) to ensure compliance with IHG standards and procedures and Fire, Life, and Safety.
•Conducts site visits of hotels on an as needed basis, to review engineering operations. <br><br>QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
•Degree or Diploma in Engineering or similar built environment discipline with emphasis in building services, marine, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
•Post graduate qualifications would be considered advantageous.
•Related facilities management, engineering, post trade or building, WPHS, or fire safety certifications are highly desirable.
•Minimum 4 years related experience to include at least 2 years in a building services /M&E design role. Having previous experience in a building services/M&E design consultancy would be considered essential.
•Previous experience in a managed hotel with an international hotel operator and/or being conversant with international hotel operator Engineering policies, procedures, and programs would be considered advantageous.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
•Strong technical and problem solving skills
•Strong understanding of commercial buildings, residential, and/or hotel (preferred) operational requirements in the context of building services and infrastructure
•Possess sense of urgency to drive project completion
•Ability to work independently, with minimal oversight and team player who collaborates well with others to drive consensus in pressure and deadline filled environments
•Strong verbal and written communication skills for purpose of providing and explaining project information and status to Owners, consultants and contractors, internal stakeholders, hotel management teams, and senior management
•Experience and comfortability working across multi-cultural and multi-national environments
•Team player who works collaboratively with a diverse group of people to accomplish complex tasks.
•Strong level of personal and professional integrity
