As a Senior Sales Manager for the Corprorate Transient segment at Andaz London Liverpool Street, I am responsible for managing our corporate accounts in the hotel, as well as managing a Sales Manager and a Sales Executive.

My main role is to ensure we are exceeding the corporate transient budget for each month while balancing costs to achieve a high GOP. This means managing our corporate accounts to make sure we are booking the right business for the hotel and ensuring the team is fully committed to make it happen. I'm responsible for the transient RFP process and rate setting, negotiation and contracting and I work closely with my team to ensure we position ourselves correctly in the market place.

I report to the Director of Sales and Marketing, and the role itself falls within the Sales and Marketing division within the hotel. On a daily basis, I conduct site visits and offsite client meetings and presentations, and I carry out fam trips and networking events every week. I need to ensure I stay up to date with market trends and adapt my approach to ensure I am contributing to the implementation of the hotels overall sales strategy. In line with this, I need to continuously upsell to the client to increase hotel and departmental revenue to reach and exceed our goals.

One thing that's important is the ability to multitask as there are always a number of different things happening at the same time; a good eye for detail also helps with this as does the ability to work to deadlines, targets and under pressure. I find that being an effective communicator helps me be successful as it's important to actively listen and identify appropriate messages and delivery methods to effectively influence others; this applies to external clients as well as my colleagues within the property. I work very closely with our team of Events Managers and Executives, in order to convert business and achieve our budgets and communicating clearly within the team is really important.
