Job Synopsis:

To deliver exemplary service to provide great impression of service to the guests. After the desk clerk, the hotel bellman Is the next employee that guest encounter.

General Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform any reasonable request as directed by management
• Bending, Stooping, lifting a weight of 30 Lbs or more may be required
• The Bellman will maintain a workable rotation system in the lobby so they do not group around the Bell Captain's desk or the entrance doors.
• There should always be a man on the front position. He should not be engaged in any side duties while on this position. This way he is always available for checking in the guest.
• The Bellman will stand straight and not lean while on duty in the Lobby area. They should keep their hands out of their pockets and off their hips.
• The Bellman should develop a thorough knowledge of the hotel facilities and area points of interest, and be able to give directions.
• The Bellman is responsible for answering the phone on the Bell Captain's desk, promptly and properly, by the third ring. Answer it in the following manner " Good Morning, Bell Stand (your name) speaking, may I help you,.
• The Bellman will be responsible for the Luggage Carts, Carts are to be neatly arranged in their designated area at all times. Extreme care & proper loading habits for protection of guest property should be taken when carts are in use. There should be a continual watch for people in halls, around corners, in elevators, and any possible safety hazards.
• All Bellmen should keep the Bell Stand & general Lobby area clean at all times. They are also responsible for the area around and inside the front doors clean.
• Bellmen should always be alert for undesirable looking people or noisy and disruptive type people around the lobby area and throughout the hotel. These people should be reported to the Desk Manager or Security Officer at once.
• Wake up calls will be followed through immediately by the last man procedure. Report back to the operator that wake up calls has been completed.
• The Bellmen will perform the following side duties according to their shift assignment.

o AM Shift:
o Put up Flags
o Tidy Lobby (trash, ashtrays, general appearance)
o Pick up valet from guest rooms and take to the Housekeeping
o Check with the Front Desk of the number of scheduled check-outs
o PM Shift:
o Turn on outside lights at Desk
o Supervise lobby clean up
o Tidy baggage room
o Deliver valet
o Take down flags

• To greet the guest using the first name of the person making them feel welcome and important.
• To point out areas of attraction in the hotel, such as the concierge station, the gift shop and the business centre, if appropriate.
• To accompany the guest to the room, pulling the luggage on a rack.
• To enter the room and turns on the lights or open the drapes during daytime.
• To inquire where the guest would like the luggage and point out the closets and safe and any other features of the room.
• To explain briefly how the internet connection in accessed(if there’s any)
• To inform the guest the phone number at which he can be reached for any further needs.
• To stay in the lobby in assisting guest arrivals.
• To open doors of arriving guest and call taxis when necessary.
• To assist guest with extra requirement such as carrying luggage into the hotel, holding the leashes of pets or managing the doors.
• To extend helping hands to other departments when the hotel I busy .
• To meet impeccable grooming requirements, with clean cut and dressed in the appropriate uniform, which should be clean and pressed.
