Job Purpose
The Bartender is responsible to ensure guests satisfaction by mixing and serving cocktails for guests and filling servers' orders. The Bartender wills also server food at the guest's request. The Bartender must provide guests with efficient, accurate and courteous service and must exceed guest expectations by paying attention to guests needs at all times. The Bartender is responsible for ensuring excellent food and beverage delivery and applying all Fairmont standards and procedures. The Bartender must be knowledgeable about our internal FAME program.

Primary Responsibilities
1 st primary responsibilities: Manage the daily operations of Outlet Services

• Greet each guest within 2 minutes (1 minute goal) after seating in a sincerely warm, friendly manner using the guest name (at least three times).
• Demonstrate an attitude of friendly hospitality in every aspect of service.
• Demonstrate Fairmont's Service Plus Standards in all interactions.
• Set up Lounge bar according to procedures.
• Remain observant and responsive to each guest inquiries through the bar-lounge area.
• Follow Hotel's telephone etiquette standards.
• Take guests' order promptly according to standards.
• Know the ingredients, preparation, and proper presentation of all food and beverage menus items and specials.
• Make appropriate suggestion of up selling beverages.
• Time food and beverage orders correctly to ensure they are served in a timely manner.
• Ensure bar maintenance and inventories are up to Fairmont Standards during the entire dining experience.
• Know layout of the bar and lounge (Seat and table numbers).
• Ensure that station is maintained in a clean, neat, orderly fashion.
• Know your shifts and station assignments.
• Key in (pre checks) order on the Micros terminal promptly and accurately.
• Perform all assigned side works regularly, promptly, and correctly.
• Comply fully and consistently with all hotel and restaurant conditions of employment and standards of uniform, grooming, personal hygiene and safety.
• Properly complete all closing paperwork.
• Complete beverage, food and supplies requisition.
• Complete Bar closing duties as illustrated on 'Side Work Responsibilities".
• Report on time for all meetings and training sessions scheduled by management .
• Complete responsibility for compliance of Fairmont Codes of Conduct.

Other Responsibilities

• Increase knowledge of the industry trends.

• The ability to think 'out of the box' and see the big picture.
• Strong experience in computer programs such as: Adobe Creative Suite 4 (or higher); Excel, Word, Publisher, and Power Point. Main Complexity/Critical issues in the Job

• Efficiency of quality customer service to all our guests.

• Management of the guest service experience / personalization.

• Management of guest complaints.

Knowledge and Experience

• University/College degree in a related discipline preferred

• 1 year previous experience as Bartender in a luxury hotel desirable
• Strong Food & Beverage knowledge
• Proficient in the English; bilingual is an asset
• Working knowledge of Micros or similar P.O.S. system an asset.

• Excellent organizational skills required.


• Must possess outstanding guest services skills, professional presentation, good salesmanship neat appearance and sophisticated communication skills.

• Extremely outgoing personality.

• Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment with a sense of alertness.

• Must be reliable and flexible in terms of working hours.

• Know and implement standards/procedures and sequence of service consistently.

• Two years experience mixing and serving beverages in a high quality resort or high volume restaurant.

• Able to stand and walk for an 8-hour shift and lift and carry up to 30 kilogram.

• Know the characteristics of popular cocktails
