Director Sales & Marketing

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Sales & Marketing provides strategic directive, guidance and leadership on Sales & Marketing concepts and operational decisions for the hotel that supports the mission, vision and values. Success will be defined through the successful completion of projects, high performance and the fulfilment of promises we make to all our stakeholders.

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service

• Develop relevant strategies and tactics which result in creative revenue generation and improvement, lowered costs, increased efficiency and improved operating margin in line with Regional Corporate Office Guidelines

• Monitor and exceed set Key Performance Indicators

• Imaginative, effective interaction with Owners regarding concepts and new projects

• Manage all Sales & Marketing related activities with team: Revenue Management, PR & Communication, Digital Marketing, Sales, Loyalty, Partnerships & Business Analytics

• Maintain and continuously improve product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations

• Attend leadership, revmax meetings, monthly profit and loss reviews and other meetings as required

• Growing business - A good overview of finances, think about the future and decide on strategic initiatives

• Develop and maintain unique industry relationships with preferred vendors, consultants, media representatives

• Develop and maintain prospect list at all times and ensure that there is sufficient pipeline

• Ensure effective relationship management of existing accounts

• Work closely with the Revenue Director in preparing monthly forecasts, departmental budget, and function space yield maximization

• Responsible for developing the annual business and marketing plan for the department in conjunction with the Sales Team

• Conducts regular competitive pricing and product offering surveys

• Establish and maintain relationships with counterparts at competitor Hotel Sales teams that can provide referral business

• Participate in tradeshows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel and trade related organizations

• Ensure and enforce the integrity of Opera Sales and Catering at all times

• Ensure maximum colleague engagement and conduct annual performance reviews with team members

• Ensure strict compliance to the health and safety guidelines of the department/hotel

Required Qualifications and Education

Education & other qualifications:

• Must have 5 years experience in a similar role within a luxury hospitality environment

• Masters Degree or equivalent is of advantage

• Fluent in English (other European languages are desirable)

• Track record with ownership relationships and good references to support this

• Must be strategic, creative and able to clearly communicate how plans will deliver on overall goals

• Excellent speaking and presentation skills

• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills

• Strong interpersonal & communication skills

• Adaptable & flexible with the capacity to set high goals and standards for the smooth operation of the hotels

• Effective management style, hands-on and approachable

• Bottom-line oriented with emphasis on quality guest-service and team-building
