Your day to day
Boasting a grand palette of innovation; five new restaurants and bars will present an eclectic array off gastronomic delights and extraordinary local flavour. Each experience enriched by an otherworldly setting of tropical rainforests or the crystal waters of the Coral Sea, from the all-new beach front Pool Club to the reimagined dining icon, Pacific. Adding a passionate and worldly team who can bring the InterContinental Life alive is the last puzzle piece for the Resort's delivery of rich and personal experiences.
Great restaurant memories come from many places. The sights, sounds, scents and, importantly, the food.  Working within the reimagined restaurants, bars and event offerings on the island, your passion for presentation and dedication to delivering flavour will complete each guest's experience. By taking pride in your workspace, keeping your standards high, and giving our menu the benefit of your expertise, you'll create some of our guests' favourite culinary moments. The perfect complement to the unique personalised service provided by our world class front of house team.
Reporting to the Director of Kitchens, you will work in all areas of the kitchen, learning from senior Chefs in a large kitchen operation with strong culinary skills and quality offerings. You will be involved daily in the preparation and production of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner services across all venues and special events, giving you exposure to banqueting, a la carte, bistro, fine dining and bar style cookery.

What we need from you

Our passionate foodies must have:

• A formal Commercial Cookery Certification  A minimum of 1-2 years experience as a Commis Chef and be wanting to grow your career and gain exposure to a luxury environment.
• Demonstrated performance in a hotel or resort environment, preferably in a complex property with multiple restaurants, bars and banqueting department with exposure to varying cuisines.
• Possess great attention to detail. 
• Excellent time management skills. 
• Superior communication skills. 
• A working knowledge and understanding of HACCP procedures The ability to relocate and live on Hayman Island, Whitsundays from October 2019 onwards and be comfortable with the gross hourly rate of $24.13 in line with the Off-Shore Island Resorts Certified Agreement 2006.This role is also eligible for subsidised living costs. Flexibility to work a varied roster including, late evenings, weekends and public holidays in order to support the operation alongside holding Australian work rights is also a must.
