Your day to day
Boasting a grand palette of innovation; a strong banquet offering and five new restaurants and bars will present an eclectic array off gastronomic delights and extraordinary local flavour. Each experience enriched by an otherworldly setting of tropical rainforests or the crystal waters of the Coral Sea, from the all-new beachfront Pool Club to the reimagined dining icon, Pacific. Adding a passionate and worldly team who can bring the InterContinental Life alive is the last puzzle piece for the Resort's delivery of rich and personal experiences.  
Working within the reimagined restaurants, bars and event offerings on the island, your passion for cleanliness and hygiene will be critical in supporting our Culinary and Restaurants & Bars Team to bring it all to life.  Taking pride in our workspaces and giving our Food and Beverage Operation the benefit of your organisation and expertise, you'll partner with our Director of Kitchens and Director of Restaurant & Bars to ensure health, hygiene and food safety is a priority for all colleagues across our team.  From execution to education, we require strong supervisors and managers within these roles who have the ability to inspire our colleagues, a genuine care to train and develop a high performing team as well as get in amongst it all; cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and the premises, whilst upholding hygienic standards and practices.

What we need from you

Our experienced Chief Steward must have:

•A minimum of 2 years experience as a Chief Steward, or be a talented Stewarding Supervisor ready to take your next step Demonstrated performance in a hotel or resort environment, preferably in a complex property with multiple restaurants, bars and banqueting department
•Possess great attention to detail Demonstrated performance leading a successful team
•Excellent time management skills
•Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and external suppliers
•A working knowledge and understanding of HACCP procedures, including the training of colleagues in procedures
•Rostering, ordering & payroll knowledge will be highly regarded    You will be a change agent with the ability to work alongside a team and collaborate with key stakeholders with a sense of urgency. Strategic thinking, the ability to explore new ways of working and an open mind around how we can drive the Resort forward and deliver unrivalled guest journeys will be highly advantageous.  Flexibility to work a varied roster including, late evenings, weekends and public holidays in order to support the operation alongside holding Australian work rights is also a must.
