About us
Opening in March 2020 and located on the corner of Sussex and Bathurst Streets, the newly built Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour is 152 modern guest rooms and suites vertically suspended in a prime position. Just a 5-minute stroll to the CBD's commercial and transport hub, the lively Darling Harbour precinct and the International Convention Centre. Access is easy and fast from Town Hall Train Station - only a short 3-minute walk from the hotel.
Guests will unwind in design-led, modern and spacious rooms with the latest technology at their fingertips. With 3 restaurants and bars throughout the hotel, breakfast, lunch, after-work drinks and dinner are all taken care of. Our sleek contemporary spaces are perfect for meetings, private dinners, cocktail receptions or special events, allowing guests to transition effortlessly from 9-to-5, to 5-to-9. And then there's the spectacular views from our roof-top where guests can make a splash in our Instagram-worthy floating infinity pool.

Your day to day
We're looking for a passionate and skilled Head Chef to lead our kitchen team - responsible for all kitchen operations for all Restaurants, conference and events, room service and stewarding. As Head Chef, you'll manage busy kitchen operations, day to day menu implementation, food safety training and audits, administration and kitchen financials with an emphasis on maintaining hygienic standards and practices, employee engagement, and overseeing the preparation and presentation of a consistent food product which exceeds customer's expectations. During pre-opening, you'll be our project manager for all things culinary and lead the way in setting up your department and team for success - and we have a lot of tools and resources to support you!
On the daily you'll provide direction to the team, but you'll encourage their learning and growth by coaching and inspiring them with your passion for food, service and teamwork. You'll be diligent and adhere to local regulations concerning health, safety, or other compliance requirements, as well as brand standards and local policies and procedures. 

What we need from you

•Minimum 5 years' experience as a Chef and at least 2 years in a leadership/supervisory capacity
•Minimum degree or vocational certificate in Culinary Skills
•Experience working with a la carte, banquet and buffet styles is essential
•Experience with stock control and inventory management 
•Committed to training and development and creating a positive culture
•A flair for producing innovative food concepts
•Ability to work under pressure whilst being organised, optimistic and effective in fast-paced situations
•Excellent communication skills
•Those that are hands on with their approach to leadership will do well in this role
