ASSISTANT MANAGER - ENGINEERING

Job Purpose

The position is responsible for the smooth operations of the Hotel. The Assistant Manager must be prompt, courteous and efficient engineering service in a luxury 5-stars brand inspired hotel environment where attention to detail is key.

Primary Responsibilities
MANAGE THE DAILY ENGINEERING OPERATIONS


• Report to ADOE 5 minutes prior to schedule shift fully groomed according to Fairmont Standards with all personal service supplies on hand.
• Read communication board/log book.
• Communicate without going shift, if applicable.
• Participate in departmental meetings and shift line-ups.
• Provide prompt, courteous and efficient engineering service.
• Answer all phone calls directed to Engineering Department.
• Maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas and equipment.
• Perform all assigned side work regularly, promptly, and correctly.
• Monitoring all equipment are in good running condition and report status if found defective and recommend necessary solution for the problem.
• Follows Hotel's telephone etiquette standards.
• Assist as needed to maintain standards of appearance, sanitation, and service in all areas of In Engineering.

PROVIDE A GUEST EXPERIENCE THAT EXCEEDS GUESTS' EXPECTATIONS


• Demonstrate Fairmont's Service Plus Standards in all interactions.
• Demonstrate an attitude of friendly hospitality in every aspect of service.
• Remains observant and responds to each guest at all times. Effectively handle guest concerns.
• Implement standards/procedures of service for guests consistently as per attached sequence of events.
• Take work orders promptly according to standards.
• Receive and service work orders promptly according to standards.
• Make follow up calls to guest to inform about the status of the work order if needed.

MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP OF THE ENGINEERING TEAM


• Conduct training to engineering technicians / colleagues.
• Communicate with incoming shift.
• Ensure adherence to Fairmont's Code of Ethics; ensure all situations are handled with our values in mind - Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Empowerment.
INVOLVEMENT AS A MEMBER OF THE HOTEL LEADERSHIP TEAM


• Follows Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
• Report suspicious people and behavior to Security.
• Report any problems to ADOE.
• Comply promptly with all special request of management.
• Communicate pleasantly and courteously with guests, management, and co-workers.
• Know floor layout of the hotel and location of all equipment and supplies.
Main Complexity/Critical issues in the Job

• Ensures the efficient, economical and sound operation of equipment, i.e. Chiller, Emergency Generators, Fire Pumps, Refrigeration, HVAC/Laundry, LPG, Water and the auxiliaries of these, etc.

• Reliability of Rooms' functionality and availability

• Giving particular attention to defective or deficient life safety features and observes closely the condition of all operating facilities and equipment.

• Ensures that all standby units are readily available for operation.

• Implements strictly the preventive maintenance of all equipment and machineries including the auxiliaries within his jurisdiction according to the hotel standards and the manufacturer's recommendation.

• Ensures the immediate rectification of deficient firefighting and safety equipment without delay.


Profile

Knowledge and Experience


• Must be a degree holder in Mechanical Engineering and duly licensed by the Professional Regulations Commission.
• Responsible self-starter, capable of handling multi-faceted projects and of working under pressure.
• Should have atleast 8 years or more of working experience in Engineering Repair and Maintenance, atleast 2 years of which in the Hospitality Industry.
• Previous duty engineer's post in a luxury hotel setting is an asset.
• Knowledge of FDAS / FPS, Maintenance of Equipment an asset.
• Strong Engineering technical knowledge.
