POSITION REPORTS TO: IT Development Manager POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: None KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Application Developers Business Analyst Business Users Network Engineering Manager Service Desk Manager PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: To actively contribute to the company vision of making holiday dreams come true by developing both internal and external robust solutions to meet business requirements. You will be expected to work closely with the Development Manager, Business Analyst and members of the business to come up with optimal layout, design and coding of systems. Reporting to the IT Development Manager you will work with the current development team members to assist and fulfill outstanding projects, primarily with Java, SQL Server and Apache Tomcat with support across existing systems PHP, SQL Server and MYSQL. To be successful you will need to be business focused with the ability to understand the company objectives and responsibilities to deliver premium levels of service to our customers. As well as high exposure to vendor or corporate internet web development and sound knowledge of Internet trends, you will have the ability to identify operational inefficiencies, recommend improvement and to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (Included but not limited to:)

- Deliver high quality business software solutions per agreed commitments
- Review and comment on functional specifications
- Develop sound system designs for projects
- Develop sound database schema to support designs
- Document designs, code, and key system information as appropriate
- Review code of colleagues as required
- Support existing business systems as required (may require making changes in environments you are not familiar with)
- Work with the Engineering Team to launch new systems
- Work with Engineering & Development Teams to maintain and extend development, staging, and production environments
- Develop new innovative techniques to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team
- Work within agreed Team standards and recommend changes and extensions to these standards as appropriate.
- Work with key business stakeholders to ensure satisfaction with business systems and to identify possible areas for improvement.

KEY POSITION CRITERIA:

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline (preferred) or significant experience in application development
- Significant experience of working collaboratively with business units to analyse their IT needs and support the development of solutions
- Demonstrated empathy and the ability to build upon other people's ideas
- Proven ability to implement alternative methods to achieve goals in the face of obstacles
- Ability to meet tight reporting deadlines without compromising quality
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) with the ability to build relationships across the business at all levels
- Flexibility to work productively in a fast paced, high growth and changing environment
- Sound knowledge of Internet trends
- Experience in website production methodology
- Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvement
- Business oriented focus with an understanding the company objectives and responsibilities to deliver premium levels of service to our customers
- Sound knowledge of Internet trends
- Must have programming languages: Java, php, html, dhtml, xml, Ext javascript, jQuery
- Sound foundation in Database structure & design best practices
- Working experience with the following databases: MSSQL, MySQL, MSAccess
- Salesforce development skills and experience essential (including Visual Force and Apex
- Operating systems: Windows, Linux
- Experience of Servers & Networks (Win2003, LAN & WAN)
- Experience of Web Application and Web Server technologies (IIS, Apache)
- High level of experience with CSS layout & design
- Experience with Zend Framework is desirable.
- Some experience with Salesforce development is desirable.
