Job Summary

We are looking for someone who can support the Properties' operational department including Engineering and House keeping in the maintenance of current brand design standards. The role blends design thinking with smart business sense. This person will have the unique ability to intertwine design strategy, operations principles, and consumer insights with design skills to effectively ensure that the repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Design elements including but not limited to Floor and wall covering, fabric and upholstery, window treatment and paintwork. Deep understanding of Civil engineering is desirable.

This person is agile enough to multi-task a variety of graphic, writing and editing skills. As someone who helps develop design standards, this candidate can not only see when something is working and when it's not, can zero in on how to fix it. This person is a problem solver and a good communicator who is thorough and follows through with requests. As a member of the Standards team, the applicant contributes a high level of specialized knowledge, generally works with considerable independence and enjoys working with other contributors / stakeholders.

This individual will need to work collaboratively across several property departments (Operations, Engineering, Food & Beverage, wellness/Spa, Fire & Life Safety, Housekeeping and others) and external stakeholders (Owners, Franchisees, Consultants, Vendors and others). This role is cluster in scope.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

• Maintain design standards content in a databased system, coordinate & manage maintenance documents across platforms
• Execute quality assurance of design standards maintenance and upkeep on a daily basis, for all properties
• Communicate with Engineering & Housekeeping to identify, share and interpret pertinent information and requests to maintain the design standards as they arise
• Ensure all standards solutions meet the Marriott/Brand required level of quality.
• Identify and manage internal and external contributors as the appropriate resources required to assist with maintaining design standard goals

• Research product performance and vendor information to assist with maintenance & upkeep to the standards
• Manage Subject Matter Experts (SME) content in order to develop and update standards
• Work efficiently and collaboratively to meet General clean and maintenance programs of Guest rooms and public areas.
• Shift gears from one property to another, respond to others in a timely manner and pitch in wherever is needed without hesitation
• Clarify each task, make decisions with supporting knowledge and ask for clarification when not sure

• Ability and interest to go both deep and wide in a variety of subject matters
• Can manage their time with utter efficiency, allowing focused time for detailed tasks
• Comfortable with ambiguity and decision making
• Quick thinker, problem solver and not scared to reach out to external resources for help
• Ability to work in a self-directed environment
• Solid ability of all things digital like Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office

Education/Experience:

• 4-year degree from an accredited design program or a 3 year diploma preferred
• Minimum 4 years professional experience with a minimum of 2 years preferably in the hospitality design field
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
