5 facts you didn’t know about Dubai’s best steakhouse at the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai in Deira
Dubai, UAE- October 7, 2016 – The JW’s Steakhouse, which opened its doors in 1995, is well known for its steaks that cut like butter and its many awards won over the years. But did you know that the Chef from the opening is still working in the kitchen, that we had a cocktail on the menu that was specifically created for a regular guest and that you can travel back in time to 1995 to celebrate the JW’s Steakhouse 21st anniversary?
To celebrate the 21st anniversary of JW’s Steakhouse in October 2016, we share 5 facts and stories that you didn’t know about this famous steakhouse.
1) The Chef de Cuisine and F&B Manager who opened the JW’s Steakhouse are still there!
Chef de cuisine, Mohammad Iqbal came to Dubai in 1993 and worked in the in-room dining kitchen before joining the opening team of the JW’s Steakhouse. Since then he has perfected the art of cooking steak.
Being part of the pre-opening team at the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai, Hector Mendonca was actively involved in creating the restaurant concept and is bringing its vision to life even today.
2) There is a unique cocktail for our guest
To honour a regular guest of the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai, the team created a special concoction named “Christini” and put it on the menu, it features all his favourite ingredients.
3) The Wall of Fame
Our regular guests who have visited the Steakhouse over 24 times receive a plaque with their name on their favourite table. A couple of years ago, there was a guest who could not wait to get his personal plaque, so he visited the Steakhouse daily for 24 days in a row to get his name on the table as quickly as possible. Guests who finish a 25 oz. filet mignon steak and a bottle of Esser Merlot grape receive a name plaque on the “Wall of Fame”.
To date, we have 758 names on the tables and 978 successful “Wall of Fame” conquerors.
4) The JW’s Steakhouse is worth a stopover in Dubai
A group of guests had a 1 night stopover in Dubai and were looking forward to their dinner at the JW’s Steakhouse. But they realised that due to their delayed flight, the restaurant would be closed by the time they arrived. They called the hotel and we kept the restaurant open so that they could enjoy a memorable stopover at the JW’s Steakhouse before their onwards flight the next morning.
5) Turning back time with the original menu including prices from 1995
To celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Steakhouse, Chef Iqbal is turning back time and will be serving the original opening menu with prices from 1995. This is a unique opportunity re-visit the classic steakhouse or to discover this hidden treasure in Dubai if you haven’t tried it yet.
