ACCLAIMED CHEF GORDON RAMSAY DELIGHTS DINERS AT THE ST. REGIS DOHA
Ramsay Prepared Special Dishes and Shared Personal Anecdotes to Food-Loving Guests at Gordon Ramsay Doha and Opal by Gordon Ramsay Doha on 6 January
Doha, Qatar – 13 January 2013 – Celebrated chef Gordon Ramsay delighted guests at The St. Regis Doha in an exclusive sold-out event this week, as he prepared special dishes and shared stories at his two restaurants Gordon Ramsay Doha and Opal by Gordon Ramsay Doha.
On 6 January, Ramsay and his team of chefs led by Michelin Star-holding Head Chef Gilles Bosquet, prepared one sitting of a five-course dinner at Gordon Ramsay Doha, and two sittings of a three-course dinner at Opal by Gordon Ramsay Doha.
Guests - including food connoisseurs, local chefs, food bloggers and members of the media - came from all over the Arabian Gulf to meet Ramsay and enjoy specialties that had never before been served in Qatar. The Scottish chef holds eleven Michelin stars, including one of only four Three-Michelin starred restaurants in UK, which is one of the highest awards in the culinary world.
Chef Gordon Ramsay said: “I’m delighted that so many food-loving guests from the region were able to attend these dinners, and to have helped to enhance Qatar’s culinary scene, which has grown tremendously over the past five years. I am proud of what Chef Gilles and his team have accomplished so far and look forward to the growing success of our two restaurants in Doha.”
At Gordon Ramsay Doha, guests dined on European lobster and pear salad, pan-fried sea bass and roasted lamb loin, along with a berry meringue and sorbet for dessert. Ramsay met with all guests in the intimate setting inspired by a classical English manor.
In the more relaxed bistro-style setting of Opal by Gordon Ramsay Doha, guests enjoyed seafood starters; braised duck leg with crushed potatoes, orange, and cardamom sauce for the main course, and cherry bakewell tart for dessert.
Both Gordon Ramsay Doha and Opal by Gordon Ramsay Doha are two of the top dining destinations in Qatar. Gordon Ramsay Doha provides a five-star avant-garde dining experience of contemporary European cuisine, while Opal by Gordon Ramsay offers bistro-style dining in a relaxed, social environment. Both restaurants are directed by Michelin-starred Head Chef Gilles Bosquet, who trained under Gordon Ramsay at The Connaught restaurant in London.

About Gordon Ramsay
Scottish by birth, Gordon Ramsay was brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. With an injury prematurely putting an end to any hopes of a promising career in football, he went back to college to complete a course in hotel management. His dedication and natural talent led him to train with some of the world’s leading chefs, such as Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White in London, and Guy Savoy and JoëlRobuchon in France.
In 1993 Ramsay became chef of Aubergine in London. Within three years, he was awarded two Michelin stars. In 1998, at the age of 31, Ramsay set up his first wholly owned and namesake restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which quickly received the most prestigious accolade in the culinary world – three Michelin stars. Today, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is London’s longest-running restaurant to hold this award, and Ramsay is one of only four chefs in the U.K. to maintain three stars.
Now internationally renowned, Ramsay has opened a string of successful restaurants across the globe, from Italy to the United States. The group continues to grow with recent openings such as Bread Street Kitchen in London’s City district; two ventures in Doha, Qatar; Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas; and The Fat Cow in Los Angeles. Ramsay received an OBE (Order of the British Empire awarded by Queen Elizabeth II) in 2006 for services to the industry.
Ramsay has also become a star of the small screen both in the U.K. and internationally, with U.K. shows such as GORDON’S GREAT ESCAPES and GORDON RAMSAY: SHARK BAIT, as well as four top-rated FOX shows that air in more than 200 countries worldwide: KITCHEN NIGHTMARES, HELL’S KITCHEN, MASTERCHEF and HOTEL HELL. He is also a published author of a number of books, many of which have become bestsellers around the world, most notably his autobiography, Roasting in Hell’s Kitchen.
Ramsay has a global partnership with WWRD (Waterford®, Wedgwood®, Royal Doulton®), which offersquality home and lifestyle products. He lives with his wife, Tana and four children, along with their bulldog Rumpole and two cats. He divides his time between Los Angeles and South London.
