BBVA Compass Expands Leadership Training Partnership with eCornell
Commercial banking giant renews agreement with eCornell to deliver online professional development programs for high-potential employees.
ITHACA, NEW YORK, April 18, 2012 -- eCornell is expanding its online leadership development partnership with BBVA Compass, a Sunbelt-based financial institution. The bank is adopting a core leadership curriculum built around online course delivery through eCornell.
"We are thrilled to be working with BBVA Compass for another year to develop their new and existing managers," said Tom Abogabal, vice president of sales at eCornell. "We're delighted that Eric Simpson and his team put their trust in eCornell to develop the essential managerial and leadership skills to drive business performance at all levels within the bank."
"eCornell's leadership development programs have proven to be highly effective and are an excellent complement to our development strategy," said Eric Simpson, senior vice president of leadership development at BBVA Compass. "This year we are modifying and streamlining the programs based on feedback and performance results so we can get even more people involved."
Overall satisfaction scores indicate the eCornell leadership courses were well-received the first year, with BBVA Compass students rating the applicability and transfer of knowledge from the course to their work with a score of 4.52 out of 5.
"Our leaders benefit from these courses because they are timely, industry-relevant and enable students to apply course concepts directly to their everyday work. We have been using eCornell's courses to prepare our most talented people for future opportunities," said Simpson. "The private cohort structure and dedicated instructor foster the kind of collaboration and team-building that make these leadership programs impactful."
eCornell's unique approach to e-learning combines the most effective elements of a world-class, Ivy League classroom with the flexibility of an online learning environment. eCornell courses—self-paced and 100 percent online—are "instructor-facilitated" to help guide a cohort of 20 to 30 participants through challenging, real-world exercises with practical on-the-job application. Classes enable learners to be immersed in learning that also fosters collaboration, interaction and networking.
