Berlin gears up for “two kilometre party“
The ‘Silvester‘ is the world’s biggest New Year‘s Eve open-air celebration
Dubai, 27th December 2010 – The German capital Berlin is gearing up once more to throw the world’s biggest New Year‘s Eve open-air party. On 31st December each year, people from all over the world flock to Berlin to cheerfully celebrate the turn of the year in a unique and extremely impressing event.
Known as the “Silvester“, the free-of-charge party mile runs from the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin’s signature landmark, along “17 June Street“ and up to the Victory Column (Siegessäule). With more than a million guests, 500 journalists from all over the world and 350 national and international TV channels, the New Year’s Eve Party in Berlin even tops the New Year festivities of New York and London.
Live music performances and international DJs, the famous countdown to midnight and the spectacular fireworks display will once again attract hundreds of thousands of guests from all over the world to the Brandenburg Gate. On an overall space of 80,000 square meters, the biggest stage of Berlin's New Year's Eve Party is at the Pariser Platz, with the Brandenburg Gate as an impressive background. The two-kilometre-long party will kick off with a varied stage programme of international music stars, famous rock and pop bands as well as live acts. Several DJs will offer permanent entertainment until the early morning hours of 2011. Laser and light shows as well as the world-famous Berlin New Year’s Eve fireworks will act as the ultimate highlight of the event.
Last year, around one million people joined the Silvester party in its fourteenth edition. The 2010 party between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column continued in full swing until the early morning hours.
