Indulge the senses at Junoon every lunch time with a thali lunch, offering an array of authentic yet contemporary tastes of India, all on one plate. Open throughout the Holy Month, Junoon’s thali lunch offers those who are not fasting the perfect afternoon of exquisite cuisine in comfort and style, perfectly placed within the Shangri-La Hotel and for those observing Ramadan, Junoon also offers a special Iftar menu each evening.
Thali, meaning ‘plate’ in Hindi, is a traditional meal throughout South Asia, which combines a selection of delicacies served in small bowls called Ktori, placed on a wooden or metal ‘Thali’. The varied selection includes, rice, bread, vegetables, meat (if desired) – providing a complete meal on one plate.
Guests choosing the vegetarian thali will enjoy generous helpings of: Suki Arbi – crispy colcasia with ajwain seed, ginger, preserved lemon and coriander leaf; Brussels Matar – Brussel sprouts with sprint onion, green chilli and turmeric; and Paneer Do Pyaza – paneer with fennel seed, spring onion and yoghurt onion curry.
Meat-lovers will find their katori bowls filled with Home Style Fish Curry- with onion ginger curry, fenugreek, kalonji, cumin, and coriander leaf as well as: Murgh Dhaniwal – chicken thigh, coriander, cardamom, cumin onion curry; and Kolhapuri Gosht – Lamb leg, red chii, star anise, white sesame, coconut.
Respecting Iftar timings, evening guests will be offered an array of traditional fast breaking food such as dates and buttermilk, before enjoying a gala-style menu of modern Indian dishes continuously served to the table throughout the meal. Guests will be treated to five courses including signature chaat, succulent kebabs and variations of biryanis and curries.
Junoon’s thali lunch will be available every day, and throughout Ramadan, from 12pm-3.00pm costing AED 95 for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Junoon’s Iftar will be available each evening throughout Ramadan for AED 220.
