EXPERIENCE AND EMBRACE HEALTH AND WELLNESS THIS RAMADAN IN DUBAI
The health and wellness scene continues to flourish in Dubai during the Holy month of Ramadan
30 June, 2016, Dubai, UAE: - Dubai health and wellness amenities are seeing great footfall during the Holy month of Ramadan. From full gymnasiums, to huge engagement and interaction in sports clubs, cafes and restaurants buzzing with football fans cheering for their favorite teams, Dubai continues to maintain its legacy as a year round city with unlimited offerings, catering to residents and visitors alike.
Stemming from Dubai Sports Council’s vision in building an active community in the emirate, and following the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Rules of Dubai in wanting residents to benefit their body, soul and behavior, as well as overall health and wellbeing by incorporating exercise in their everyday culture, the emirate maintains its position as a health conscious city that offers a wide array of activities from group to individual exercises, as well as meditation events.
One example of a health and fitness destination open during the Holy Month of Ramadan is Dubai Sports World at DWTC. Targeting athletes and sports fans of all ages, Dubai Sports World hosts an array of the most popular sports in the emirate’s largest indoor summer sports venue. Having started at the beginning of Ramadan to go on until the end of August, Dubai Sports World not only hosts sports enthusiasts, but also offers them a range of activities, fitness programs, as well as events to engage in.
Similarly, the annual Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament – with the variety of the sports games it offers including paddle tennis, archery, volleyball and running – encourages athletes and active residents to maintain an energetic lifestyle during the Holy month
Commenting on the emirates’ sports scene this Ramadan, Ahmed Alkhaja, Senior Vice President – Venues Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), said: “We are proud to provide a strong community platform like Dubai Sports World that draws together people of all ages and cultures, who are excited to be fitter, healthier, or simply happier.”
“Dubai Sports World 2016 is the biggest since its inaugural edition six years ago, offering 25,000 square meters of indoor, state-of-the-art facilities and top-notch academies. Dubai Sports World encourages health and wellness, ensuring both residents and visitors of all fitness levels have the opportunity to stay fit, not just during Ramadan but all summer long. We continue to welcome thousands of new and returning sports enthusiasts daily.”
The meditation and serenity that characterize the Holy month of Ramadan were recently celebrated in Dubai on International Yoga Day. Organized by the Dubai Sports Council and The Consulate of India, the first-ever International Yoga Day celebration in the UAE was held at Al Wasl Sports Club in the objective of encouraging residents and visitors to partake in a life-changing and meditating activity that serves to enhance general wellbeing.
Earlier this year, the inauguration of the first-ever regional yoga festival took place in Dubai, where international yogis and celebrities attended and led engaging sessions of the diverse yoga types famous the world over. With more than 20,000 people attending and participating in the XYoga Festival, as well as more than 15,000 celebrating International Yoga Day last week, as well as the high footfall to sports venues, Dubai residents are moving towards a more health conscious way of life.
Aligning with the diversity it’s known for, those who decide to just watch sports, can enjoy cheering for their favorite European football champions at any venue of their choice in the city. With an essence of Ramadan, and an athletic vibe, it is needless to say that the emirate succeeds to keep its residents and visitors content.
Offering its residents and visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy the city’s offerings all year round with no exceptions is one of Dubai’s continuous objectives. With a particular focus on the importance of maintaining mind, body and soul balance during Ramadan, and throughout the year, the emirate is committed to further enhance its health and wellness offerings to ensure the wellbeing of its residents and visitors.
Dubai’s sports offerings fall under the umbrella of the 6th edition of the ‘Ramadan in Dubai’ campaign, that aims to raise awareness around the diversity of activities available to experience in Dubai during the Holy month, as well as the continuous activities that can be enjoyed during the day and after Iftar – all the while focusing on the spiritual and religious celebrations taking place in Ramadan.
