Fümé gets fired up for Dubai Marina debut
New licensed neighbourhood eatery to open in Pier 7 tower as destination dining meets global comfort food; second Dubai concept launch for hospitality and lifestyle focused Jas Group
UAE-headquartered hospitality and lifestyle development company, Jas Hospitality, has announced the launch of its second Dubai-based restaurant concept with the imminent opening of Fümé, a new international dining destination offering exceptional, but uncomplicated food from around the world.
Set to open in January 2014, the 140-seat licensed outlet is located on the first floor of the new Pier 7 restaurant tower in the heart of the vibrant Dubai Marina district.
The first-of-its-kind in the region, Fümé is an unpretentious local neighbourhood eatery with a menu of refreshingly affordable home-style dishes designed to reflect Dubai’s multicultural population. The extensive menu has been developed by British executive chef, Grant Brunsden, and features a collection of classic preparations as well as dishes found on the dinner table in homes around the world, including, hot and cold smoking, curing and slow cooking.
“Dubai has more than its fair share of upscale ethnically rooted eateries and we believe that there is a clear gap in the market for an affordable, uncomplicated but quality-led concept where diners can enjoy their favourite flavours of home, from around the world or try a culinary classic from another continent,” said Angelo Rosato, Operations Manager, Fümé.
“Fümé is a casual modern eatery inspired by our chef’s epicurean adventures throughout Europe, North and South-East Asia. The emphasis is on social interaction through sharing-style dining, where food nostalgia plays a central role in evoking happy memories of family dinners or great travel experiences, and bringing them all together in an equally eclectic and welcoming setting,” he added.
The hand-picked menu of global classics features signature coco husk-grilled and charcoal oven cooked steak and seafood, daily blackboard specials and international staples from French onion soup, Hong Kong-style chicken wonton soup and steak tartare to braised beef cheek, black cod siew-mai.
Desserts similarly run the gamut of global flavours and tastes, including apple and rhubarb crumble, black sticky rice with toasted coconut ice cream, iced banoffee parfait with salted peanut brittle and a daily changing choice of ice creams and sorbets.
To wash it all down, Andrew Mullins of Fling Bar Services has created a charming collection of rustic yet contemporary cocktails that sit contentedly alongside our interpretation of the great classics while emphasising the central tenet of comfortable, affordable quality. Rumour has it that there will even be a cheeky selection of adult milkshakes, brimming with flavour and faux-innocence.
“Our quirky interiors echo the culinary blueprint, with a vintage industrial style template that marries purposely mismatched flatware with unique pieces of artwork and striking chandeliers made from a variety of interesting materials, for a highly individualised and engaging ambience,” said Rosato.
While it will be the first Fümé for the UAE, the concept will be the second venue for Jas Hospitality, following the launch of its contemporary, arabesque-inspired, restaurant, lounge and bar ‘Qbara’ in the Wafi Pyramids complex.
A modern local eatery inspired by our chef’s epicurean adventures throughout Europe, North and South-East Asia, Fümé’s menu of international ‘comfort food’ is served sharing style for the whole table to enjoy. Dining at Fümé is a multisensory experience delivered by warm and welcoming professionals in a vibrant setting in the heart of Dubai Marina.
