Green Globe success for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan
Third consecutive year of certification underlines commitment to sustainable practice excellence
Dead Sea, (Jordan), 18th June 2013. All five Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan have successfully achieved Green Globe certification for the third consecutive year.
The certification by the independent international organisation Green Globe follows a meticulous audit of sustainable practice across every hotel covering more than 350 standards ranging from customer satisfaction, water consumption and energy use to community commitment, recycling processes and internal training.
The Mövenpick Resort & Residences Aqaba, the Mövenpick Resort Tala Bay Aqaba, the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea, the Mövenpick Resort Petra and Mövenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel all achieved top global rankings.
Peter Hoesli, General Manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea and Regional Manager for Jordan, said: “At Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts sustainability is an on-going process and our hotels are constantly challenging themselves to find new ways to improve standards.”
Such commitment is illustrated by the introduction of 250 solar panels, the replacement of 3,000 lamps with LED lights and the installation of a new key system and an energy-efficient cooling system for chillers.
Meanwhile, the Mövenpick Resort Petra and Mövenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel have both introduced a range of energy-saving innovations, including water saving devices and energy-efficient lighting in rooms and public areas.
