HIP AND HOT – NEW BEACHSIDE RESORT ARRIVES ON THE SCENE ALONG TURKEY’S SPARKLING AEGEAN COAST
Swissôtel Resort Bodrum Beach to open June 2015
Turkey, April 2015 – Swissôtel Resort Bodrum Beach, the latest addition to Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts’ worldwide portfolio, will open its doors in June 2015 in an enviable location on a beautiful private beach in Turgutreis, just a short drive from Bodrum, Turkey. This exciting opening will see the continuation of the region’s steady rise as the latest Mediterranean hot spot.
Classed as “The St. Tropez of Turkey” by the New York Times, Bodrum is among the most picturesque regions on Turkey's Aegean coast with a charming laid back and decidedly sophisticated feel. With three elaborate yacht lined marinas, great restaurants, buzzing nightlife, super luxury villas, fabulous shops and numerous hidden bays and beaches, it’s no surprise that tourists, celebrities and the glitterati continue to flock to the area. While the district’s hip nightlife and luxury trappings are certainly Turkish delights, Bodrum is also rich in culture, providing travellers with an opportunity to explore the region’s ancient ruins, castles, museums and quaint fishing coves.
“Bodrum is an enticing summer getaway with its stunning coastline and vibrant nightlife, and in recent years the destination has risen up to be the most sophisticated of Turkey’s resort areas,” said Gerhard Struger, Regional Vice President Turkey & Eastern Europe, Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts. “Set on a peninsula in Mugla, the region is famous for its whitewashed houses dripping in bright pink bougainvillea, exclusive hotels and bays backed by pine-clad hills – as well as its hip nightlife that doesn’t sleep until dawn. We are very excited to be raising the Swissôtel flag in what is arguably one of Europe’s most exciting summer hot spots.”
Swissôtel Resort Bodrum Beach will feature 66 spacious guestrooms and suites, as well as 77 private serviced residences, designed by Gokhan Avcıoğlu of renowned Turkish design studio, GAD International. The sweeping lines of the hotel will fuse with the Aegean coast’s rolling landscape and the tangerine gardens of Turgutreis, with Avcıoğlu cleverly blending the structure into nature by using exterior vertical gardens to create green stone-clad facades.
The use of natural elements continues inside, permeating the stunning modern interiors designed by Irmak Çağlar of Çağdaş Design Works. Each and every guestroom has been designed with simplicity and sophistication in mind, blurring the boundaries between sea and sky in every vantage point. Brazilian blue onyx, navy blue and white solid hardwood floors, alongside neutral sand and stone colours will ensure guests are continually reminded of being by the water. Touches of signature Swiss inspiration – from the cool marble bar tops, to the artistic cog-wheel artwork of the lobby’s design wall – will be found in every aspect of the hotel. Precise Swiss modernism will meet the laid-back lifestyle of the Aegean.
According to Emre Kocamustafaogullari, newly appointed General Manager of the hotel, “Our guests will experience the meeting of cultures, combining functionality and comfort, plus local heritage within a contemporary setting. In short, Swissness with local Turkish charm.”
The hotel’s lobby will be a focal point, offering breathtaking sea and sunset views through an endless, double-height glass façade. Woven into the structural design, “bougainvillea” flowers - typical of the Bodrum region – will bring a sense of place, creating an exquisite, modern indoor garden. The hotel will also feature a Pürovel Spa & Sport, drawing on the group’s alpine heritage, which will offer an array of signature body and facial treatments as well as a traditional Turkish Hamman, steam room and sauna.
Four restaurants and bars will serve guests a variety of tastes from Turkish mezze, fresh fish and regional specialities available beach-side as well as an all-day dining menu adjacent to the pool. During the summer, the rooftop will come alive as an evening hotspot, with a fusion of Asian-Mediterranean cuisine and live DJ performances.
The hotel will also be a draw for active travellers. The region’s climate provides ideal conditions for windsurfing, diving and other water sports, and the hotel’s private beach and pontoon deck serve as perfect spots for lounging in the warm sunshine or soaking in the sparkling waters of the Aegean Sea.
Swissôtel Resort Bodrum Beach will open in June 2015. Garden View Rooms will start from €145 per night (£106), room only, based on double occupancy.
