· Outstanding Achievement category winner is Haluk Kaya, Chairman Bekay Property Partners
Istanbul February 4 2011: The region’s first conference dedicated to investment in the burgeoning tourism and hospitality sector, Central Asia and Turkey Hotel Investment Conference (CATHIC) announced the winners of its Hotel Investment Award just days ahead of the event in Istanbul (February 7-9 2011).
The Best New Hotel in Turkey is awarded to Istanbul’s Pera Palace Hotel, and the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel, Tbilisi, Georgia scooped the Best New Hotel in the CATHIC region (non-Turkish). Meanwhile, the award for Outstanding Achievement is bestowed upon Haluk Kaya, the Chairman of Bekay Property Partners.
Grant Collier, Marketing Director at Bench Events, the organiser of the awards said that the ceremony will take place during CATHIC: “It was a very close competition which drew an impressively high standard of entries, particularly those from within Turkey.”
Three hundred delegates expected at the inaugural event; three great reasons to join them According to Collier, almost 300 delegates have already registered to attend the event, which includes a formal conference programme, as well as excellent networking opportunities and a sponsors’ exhibition.
“This is the first hotel investment conference focussing on the Central Asia and Turkey markets, and we are delighted that our confidence in the region’s hotel development potential is supported by such a positive response from around the world,” said Jonathan Worsley, Chairman of Bench Events, organisers of the event.
He said that the event, which will take place at the Ceylan InterContinental Istanbul, Turkey, has attracted hotel investors, developers, operators and hospitality experts from across Turkey, Central Asia and other markets to discuss investment and development opportunities, as well as hotel branding and segmentation, development challenges and opportunities, and how to ensure returns on investment over the long term.
Worsley advised that in addition to a comprehensive conference programme, with expert speakers and panellists from across the hospitality sector, there will be many networking opportunities for delegates – both formal and informal.
“Networking xPress is like speed-dating for business in a 60-minute coordinated session where delegates can meet and exchange business cards with other CATHIC participants. Our past experience from our other events around the world shows that this session is fast, effective, highly productive and enjoyable for all participants,” he said., adding that a pre-event online networking facility is available through the CATHIC contact system.
“Our online contact system means that delegates to begin networking with other participants before the event, by identifying other delegates and requesting meetings with them.”
Collier added that the third strand to the CATHIC event is a Sponsors Exhibition. He said that CATHIC sponsors are leader players in the hospitality industry who have invested in CATHIC because they want to meet and do business with like-minded delegates. “The exhibition provides a platform for learning more about exhibitor’s operations, innovations and interests, and forging links with representatives of these companies,” Collier concluded.
