HotelClub: Thai Hotels Bounce Back After Floods
Thailand – Still Amazing campaign gives back with Thai Red Cross donations
SYDNEY, 9 December 2011 – HotelClub today confirmed that hotel transaction volumes in Thailand have risen and even surpassed yearly average rates following the devastating floods that have affected the country since July.
Hotel volumes were not initially affected when flood waters first began. However, once Bangkok became threatened in mid October there was a sharp decrease in hotel bookings as traveller confidence waned.
HotelClub highlights in Thailand:
· Total Thailand hotel volumes dropped by 70% during week commencing 24 October compared to the average weekly transactions pre-flooding
· Transaction volumes have risen sharply in the past five weeks with week commencing 28 November producing a 400% increase compared to week commencing 24 October
· Year on year transactions are increasing as well with week commencing 28 November up by 15% compared to the same period last year
· For Bangkok specifically, hotel volumes increased 40% during week 28 November compared to the week prior – resulting in a return to average weekly transactions pre-flooding
To encourage the return of travellers and tourists, HotelClub will launch the Thailand – Still Amazing campaign on Monday 12 December. As part of this, HotelClub has partnered with the Thai Red Cross Society, where $5AUD from each transaction at participating hotels will be donated to the cause. In addition, select Thai hotels will be on sale up to 60% off regular rates.
