In Collaboration with Fitness First His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Launches ‘Dubai Fitness Competition’
Competition to Award 30 Winners of Fittest Man and Woman Categories
Dubai-UAE: 19 June, 2012 – His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, has launched ‘Dubai Fitness Competition’, a first-of-its-kind fitness competition during the Holy Month of Ramadan in collaboration with Fitness First Middle East, the world’s number one health and fitness club chain and a franchise owned and operated under license by the Landmark Group.
Dubai Fitness Competition comes in line with the vision and directions of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to raise awareness on the importance of exercise and health. Furthermore, the initiative aims to promote the adoption of a balanced diet and a relevant fitness regime especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan, in which the body’s metabolism undergoes tremendous changes.
The initiative is consentient with His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s other annual sports events such as Sea Dubai (Water Sports Festival), Majid bin Mohammed Futsal Championship, Majid bin Mohammed Horse Marathon among others.
Dubai Fitness Competition will be conducted across select Fitness First clubs including Mirdif City Centre, Meadows Club Dubai, Deira City Centre and Uptown Mirdif ladies only club. Open to both members and non-members across the UAE, the contest will seek to identify the ‘Fittest Man’ and ‘Fittest Woman’ in Dubai. Prize money will be given away to 30 winners in both categories according to their ranking.
AED50,000 will be awarded to the first place winner. AED30,000 and AED20,000 will be awarded to the second and third place runners-up. Fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers will receive AED10,000, AED8,000 and AED6,000 respectively. Seventh place will receive AED4,000. Participants who finish between the eighth and 15th position will receive AED3,000.
Registrations will start from 1 July across all Fitness First clubs. Participants will be required to pay a registration fee of AED100. Fitness First will hold qualifying circuits for the competition over two weeks beginning from the first day of Ramadan. The top 30 male and female contestants clocking the least time to complete the circuit will progress to the final round that is scheduled to be held at the Mirdif City Centre mall. The Women’s final will take place on 9 August while and Men’s final will be held on 10 August.
