TripAdvisor study reveals the largest and fastest growing markets showing interest in United Arab Emirates accommodations on world’s largest travel site
Dubai, 6 May, 2014 – TripAdvisor®, the world’s largest travel site*, today reveals the fastest growing inbound travel markets showing interest in holiday destinations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE ). The study shows that the UAE’s impressive accommodation options are continuing to draw in long-haul travellers. With over 38% year-on-year growth in traveller interest on TripAdvisor, Canada proved to be the fastest growing inbound tourism market for the UAE. The study examines those markets in which travellers have shown the greatest increase in year-on-year interest in UAE accommodations on TripAdvisor.
Inbound travel from long-haul markets on the rise
The study reveals good news for UAE hospitality businesses – travellers from long-haul markets continue to demonstrate increased interest in UAE, with travellers from Canada, Russia and the United States amongst the top nationalities showing accelerated year-on-year interest in UAE accommodations. The study findings indicate a shift in key source markets for inbound tourism to the UAE in the past 12 months. Accordingly to a TripAdvisor study conducted in March 2013, United States was the fastest growing major inbound tourism market for the United Arab Emirates, followed by Australia and the United Kingdom.

The top reviewer markets for UAE accommodations on TripAdvisor are consistent with the top markets researching UAE accommodations on TripAdvisor with travellers from the United Kingdom and UAE contributing the most number of reviews on UAE accommodations in the past year.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi remain key UAE destinations
According to the TripAdvisor study, while Dubai is the most researched destination in the UAE by TripAdvisor travellers in 2013, followed by Abu Dhabi, accommodations in Abu Dhabi have a higher average review rating on TripAdvisor than those in Dubai. The study also shows that while Fujairah ranks fifth amongst the most researched emirates in the UAE by TripAdvisor travellers, it boasts the second highest average accommodation review rating amongst all emirates in 2013, after Abu Dhabi and ahead of Dubai.
