JANNAH BURJ AL SARAB TO FORM CANDLELIT TRIBUTE TO EARTH HO
Abu Dhabi hotel will invite guests to join them in an illuminated ‘60+’ formation as it cuts the lights for hour-long environment event.
Abu Dhabi, 22 February 2016: The lights will go out at Jannah Burj Al Sarab next month as the hotel marks Earth Hour with a symbolic tribute to the WWF’s annual environmental awareness event.
The five-star hotel in downtown Abu Dhabi will hit the light switches before inviting guests and visitors to join them in holding candles to form the ‘60+’ official logo of Earth Hour.
Nehme Imad Darwiche, CEO of Jannah Hotels and Resorts, said: “Earth Hour is a significant global event where people all around the world unite in drawing attention to the future of our planet and its resources.
“We wanted to mark Earth Hour with a gesture that would allow everyone at the hotel to join together and celebrate this important event.”
From 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday March 19, the entire 18 floors of the Jannah Burj Al Sarab will be plunged into darkness.
Dozens of staff and hotel employees will gather in the lobby and hold lit candles to form the symbolic shape of ‘60+’. The number 60 represents the duration of Earth Hour, while the plus sign signifies a commitment to act beyond the event.
“At Jannah, we are dedicated to taking steps to ensure the environmental sustainability of the planet, not just for one hour, but throughout the entire year,” said Mr Darwiche.
“Jannah Burj Al Sarab is a leader in the field of resource sustainability with water heaters powered by solar panels, motion sensor LED lighting throughout the hotel, and an eco-friendly room management system.
“In addition, we have installed systems that regulate water usage and AC efficiency, while our talents are trained to avoid wasting paper and other resources.”
Earth Hour will also be marked by Jannah Burj Al Sarab’s newly opened restaurant, The Dining Room. Guests will be invited to a candlelit dinner from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. The hotel’s Earth Hour activities will be communicated to guests in their rooms and on restaurant dinner tables.
Jannah Eastern Mangroves Suites, part of Jannah Hotels and Resorts, will also mark Earth Hour with a candlelit tribute. The hotel will invite guests and diners at the outdoor promenade to gather in forming the illuminated ‘60+’ sign.
