Accompanying every turkey is apple & chestnut stuffing, Brussels sprouts, roasted potatoes and carrots, cranberry sauce and gravy.
The hotel is also offering a wide selection of traditional festive desserts for takeaway orders. Choose from Traditional Yule Logs (Large AED 140 / Small AED 90), Christmas Puddings (Large 450g AED 110 / Small 100g AED 30), Santa Boots filled with Chocolates from AED 42 and Gingerbread Houses at AED 82.
No one likes a dry bird. Chef Akil, Executive Chef at City Centre Hotel & Residence shares his top tips for cooking at home:
“First of all when buying a turkey be sure it will fit in your fridge and your oven. This is the most common mistake.” he laughs.
Chef highlights that cooking a traditional roast turkey is very simple, but don’t underestimate the time involved to properly thaw a frozen turkey or the actual cooking time required.
“Place the turkey in your roasting tin, rub it all over with butter or olive oil, season with salt and your four kinds of pepper and dried Juniper Berries and then cover loosely with a tent of aluminium foil. The foil prevents the breast from drying out.”
“When your Turkey has reached half way mark of cooking time, baste it with the juices from the pan, with either a large spoon or baster every 30 minutes. In the last half hour of cooking time, baste every 10 minutes.“
Chef Akil recommends cooking stuffing separately.
“It’s preferable to cook stuffing separately, however if you are determined to stuff your Turkey, go easy on the quantity of stuffing and pack it loosely, as it will expand during the roasting process. Refrigerate any left–over stuffing and cook it separately in a greased casserole dish in the last hour of turkey roasting time.”
Whether it’s to celebrate US Thanksgiving (25 November) or Christmas, the City Centre Hotel & Residence chefs take the stress out of entertaining with family and friends during the festive season.
