Kingsgate Hotel Abu Dhabi hands out 200 Iftars in a box at local mosque
Care packs designed to boost energy levels for safer journeys home
23 August, 2011 – Abu Dhabi, UAE: Kingsgate Hotel Abu Dhabi, part of the Millennium & Copthorne hotel group, at sunset last night gave away 200 Iftar care packs filled with bread, mineral water, oranges and sweets. More than twenty of the hotel’s employees volunteered to distribute the packs which are designed to help people stay healthy as they break their fast, and boost energy levels for safer, more alert journeys home.
As part of its ongoing CSR efforts, the hotel also plans to hold a blood donation drive on 7 September, with almost half the hotel’s employees already signed up.
The campaign was part of a wider corporate initiative which saw all Millennium & Copthorne hotels in the region – from Kuwait to Oman - joining together to mark World Humanitarian Day by volunteering for a good cause.
During the week of World Humanitarian Day, which takes place on 19 August, anybody working in one of Millennium & Copthorne hotels across the Middle East can apply to swap a paid working day for a day of doing voluntary work. This is the first year the hotel group has marked World Humanitarian Day and it is hoped that the initiative will become an annual one. Many Millennium & Copthorne hotels already have a strong history of supporting good causes but this is the first time that all hotels will come together in a joined-up effort to give back to the community.
