Dubai, UAE, Monday 26 October: Following the successful launch of Mikado Café in Abu Dhabi early this year, Mikado Bakery made its highly anticipated Dubai debut on Monday 26 October. The flagship bakery opened its doors in the thriving hotspot BoxPark Dubai, offering guests a delicious array of Japanese inspired, freshly baked goods, hot dishes, indulgent desserts and soothing Japanese teas. The in-store menu also available for delivery reflects strong Japanese culinary influences, adding an oriental touch to conventional western delights.
Mikado Bakery provides a wholesome start to the day with a variety of breakfast options, guests can choose from pancakes, waffles and crepes or sandwiches made with Olive or Shokupan bread; a favourite traditional Japanese delicacy. Breakfast options include the Croque Monsieur made with sundried tomatoes, white sauce, turkey ham and gruyere cheese; Yakisoba, a bread roll sandwich stuffed with Japanese sautéed noodles; or Sogayaki, a bread roll sandwich filled with rib eye beef thinly sliced and sautéed with ginger and soy sauce. Customers canalso opt for the Smoked Salmon or Turkey Ham Sandwich, made with Olive Bread warm from the oven.
Guests looking for healthy choices that don’t want to compromise on flavour are invited to enjoy a variety of soups and crisp salads prepared from the finest ingredients. Diners can sample the signature Mizuna Salad comprising mizuna, a Japanese green leaf served with kabocha, an Asian winter squash, red raddish, lotus roots, cherry tomatoes and seaweed, tossed in kaiso dressing. Alternatively, the Kabocha Soup made with ginger and kabocha pumpkin, and Miso Soup served with tofu and wakame seaweed are available.
An afternoon with friends can be best spent at Mikado Bakery over Japanese beverages, authentic teas showcased include Sencha; sourced from the Shizuoka and Makinohara regions of Japan and Bancha; a more astringent and less fragrant blend that perfectly complements sweet treats. Delight taste buds sipping teas alongsidecarefully crafted pastries, such as the Coconut & White Chocolate Truffle, Almond Frangipane Tart and the Raspberry & Lime Choux.
Desserts at Mikado Bakery offer the ultimate indulgence, made with unconventional ingredients such as Matcha, azuki beans and tofu. The famous Matcha Roll Cake, which has gained repute as one of the best desserts in Abu Dhabi, is now offered in Dubai. In addition to Anku Manju, bite-sized steamed buns filled with azuki beans paste, and the Kabocha Cheesecake made with tofu and served with a layer of Kabocha pumpkin cream and amaretti biscuits.
