Movenpick Deira in high Spiritz
New ‘licenced’ venue to complement existing restaurants
The five-star Mövenpick Hotel Deira, situated in the original ‘old town’ of Dubai, has launched a new ‘licenced’ outlet which is guaranteed, not to dampen anybody’s spirits.
“Spiritz, is a lively fun place to be and complements our existing restaurants perfectly. There is a complete entertainment programme throughout the week, including perennial favourites such as quiz night, ladies night and karaoke night. We also have some exciting new promotions such as frog night and shots night,” said Michael Nugent, general manager of the hotel.
The interior matches the red and black theme of the Asian favourite Wok In restaurant but has an additional modern edge to the bar. Five TV screens and one projector placed around Spiritz will make sure that everyone has a chance to watch the game at ease.
The venue will also feature a resident DJ and of course what self-respecting public house would deny their patrons a happy hour? In the case of Spiritz, punters will have two cracks at buying selected beverages for just AED15 each, once between 6.30pm and 7.30pm and then again at 11.30pm and 12.30am.
Good news travels fast and with the opening of Dubai Metro’s green line, so will customers of Spiritz. The Abu Baker Al Siddique station is a only a five-minute stroll from the hotel, so no need to sit gridlocked in a taxi. Sit back relax and let the train take the strain and do your bit for the environment.

As the global hospitality industry continues to ponder the pace of business, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with real estate developer, Seven Tides, prepares for the opening of more than 1,200 rooms over four properties in Dubai, UAE.
This includes the 216-room Mövenpick Hotel Deira which opened in January 2011 to offer an efficient welcome to visiting business executives, inquisitive shoppers, small meeting groups and lunch & dinner time diners in Dubai’s traditional locale of Deira on the north-side of the Creek from January.
Also within the pack of four is the 396-room Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, a property of iconic stature both inside and out, which is cleverly inspired by the journeys of the 14th century Arabian explorer, Ibn Battuta himself. The hotel is located in ‘New Dubai’ and opened its doors to business travellers, holidaymakers and destination tourists in October 2010.
Meanwhile, the Asian-inspired Royal Amwaj Resort & Spa on Palm Jumeirah will open in 2012. At first glance, the 293-room retreat-like resort seems to be playing a credible tune as it blows its own trumpet by announcing some ‘industry firsts’, including an upscale all-inclusive package available through preferred travel partners.
