Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait implements non-smoking policy
The first hotel in the country to adapt a non-smoking policy in its restaurants and public areas.
Kuwait, 31 May 2012: Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a has implemented a new non-smoking policy which includes the hotel’s four restaurants and lounges and all public areas. From now on, smokers can light up only in designated areas.
“Our main goal is to provide a healthier environment for our guests,” said General Manager Maged Gubr. “We all know that smoking is a health hazard, and studies have proven links between passive smoking and heart and lung diseases. That’s why we decided to take action and not wait until a smoking ban becomes the law. This decision was also supported by a huge number of guests’ requests asking us to go for a smoke-free hotel.”
“This initiative reinforces Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait commitment to being an environmentally friendly hotel and it is also part of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility. Our resort was the first property in Kuwait to receive Green Globe Certification in recognition for its environmentally-friendly practices, as well as its major efforts in saving water and electricity,” Maged concluded.
