PING PONG ready to serve Mumbaikers - dim sum style
Renowned dim sum brand heads further East; partnership with leading Indian hospitality group sees Ping Pong prepare for India debut
Ping Pong, the uber-cool international dim sum emporium, is set to make its Asian debut this December with the launch of its first Indian outlet in Mumbai.
India’s foodies and dim sum fans will be able to enjoy the brand’s famous ‘little steamed parcels of deliciousness’, while tea lovers will enjoy an exciting collection of lightly fragranced flowering teas.
A partnership with India’s Mirah Hospitality and Ping Pong’s regional Dubai-based team, the UK-headquartered brand, which was established in 2005, currently operates 13 restaurants across the globe in London, UK; São Paulo, Brazil; Dubai, UAE; and Washington DC in the US.
Ping Pong’s popular concept offers an extensive dim sum menu of over 50 steamed, baked and friend items - including vegetarian options – as well as desserts, cocktails and a unique selection of teas, complemented by warm service in a vibrant trendy setting that attracts both relaxed diners and those looking for a fast and delicious dining experience.
“Following our initial expansion into the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, the Asian market is the obvious next step in Ping Pong’s growth. Our partnership with Mirah Hospitality, whose expertise in the Indian food and beverage sector, and successful integration of internationally acclaimed brands into this exciting emerging market, gives us an excellent first foothold in the region,” said Daniel During, Managing Director, Ping Pong Dubai.
Commenting on the launch, Gaurav Goenka, Managing Director, Mirah Hospitality said: “Ping Pong is a contemporary and dynamic brand that is well known among Indians who travel frequently to London and Dubai.
“Premium casual dining presents a considerable growth market opportunity in India, and Mirah spotted the market potential with Ping Pong, which we believe is a great match for both the dynamic culinary scene in Mumbai and the target market within India’s financial hub.”
Ping Pong’s innovative menus are prepared by highly trained chefs, made with the freshest ingredients and are designed to reflect the diverse dietary make-up of the local market. Along with vegetarian options, a signature item on the Mumbai menu is the 487 calorie ‘healthy fix’ set menu, which has just one fifth of the recommended daily saturated fat intake.
Echoing the contemporary décor of the company’s flagship central London restaurant, diners will be greeted with an open plan space that featrues clean design lines and spacious dining areas. Oak tables and benches using wood sourced from sustainable forests in Switzerland, embody Ping Pong’s values of community, authenticity and respect for the environment.
