RACING TOWARDS A SELL-OUT: FEWER THAN 5,000 TICKETS REMAIN FOR THE 2013 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX
YAS MARINA CIRCUIT PREPARES TO HOST BUMPER CROWD OF 55,000 FANS
Abu Dhabi, UAE. Wednesday 9 October, 2013: With preparations for the fifth annual FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX entering the final straight, Yas Marina Circuit is announcing to fans near and far that fewer than 5,000 tickets now remain. Signalling the broad appeal of the event, most ticket categories, including the least and most expensive, are now sold out.
“This year, we’re looking forward to welcoming a record number of fans – 55,000 - from all corners of the globe to celebrate our fifth anniversary,” said Richard Cregan, Chief Executive Officer, Yas Marina Circuit.
“With fewer than 5,000 tickets remaining, our team is busy finalising preparations for a welcome and weekend to remember.”
Work underway in advance of the influx of fans includes the transformation of the areas behind each Grandstand into Oasis Areas, a heavy duty cleaning of all Circuit canopies, and on-track cosmetic work. Yas Marina Circuit crews are also putting the final touches on a range of new ticket categories, such as Abu Dhabi Hill, that have increased capacity for the 2013 race by 5,000 to 55,000.
“This year we will deliver the most extensive programme of on and off-track entertainment to date and the scale of our preparations reflects this,” continued Cregan.
On track, support races confirmed include the GP2 and GP3 Series and the Porsche Mobil Supercup. Off-track, ticket holders will have exclusive access to an inclusive and interactive entertainment programme in the Oasis Areas that will include a lineup of bands such as UAE favourites Bull Funk Zooperform, as well as a long list of exciting activities including Surfing, Bumper Cars and Football. The highly anticipated driver autograph sessions also return, as do a range of motorsport themed activities.
Also off-track and exclusive to ticket holders are the After-Race concerts which this year will see four nights of musical superstars entertaining the crowds. A triple bill of Arabic superstars - Amr Diab, Elissa, and Hussein Al Jasmi - take the stage on Thursday, rap legend JAY Z on Friday, MUSE on Saturday, while Depeche Mode close the weekend on Sunday.
Fans who purchased their tickets before 8th October will receive them within the next few weeks. Those who purchase tickets after 8th October will be able to collect them from 26th October onwards from the East Gate Ticket Office of Yas Marina Circuit (opening hours 9am-9pm).
Those still wishing to take advantage of the exclusive F1® fun are advised that tickets are still available for the Marina and South Grandstands.
“It’s exciting to see the Circuit come to life and we hope that fans who have yet to purchase their F1® ticket do so now to avoid disappointment.”
